With the vehicle stopped, unlocked, and the anti-theft system disabled, you can choose one of the following methods:

  • Pull and hold the tailgate button 1 on the driver's door.
  • Press the tailgate button 2 to open the tailgate.
  • Press and hold the tailgate button on the key to open the tailgate.Key, remote control
  • Swipe down from the left side of the clock at the top of the central screen to select the [Control Center] screen, then tap [Open Tailgate]. Multimedia equipment
  • If the custom button on the right side of the steering wheel is set to [Open/Close Tailgate], press and hold that button.
  • To set the custom button to [Open/Close Tailgate], select [Vehicle Settings] - [Vehicle] - [Custom steering wheel buttons] from the menu on the left side of the center screen, and then select [Open/Close Tailgate].

Note: Before opening the tailgate, make sure the area around you is clear to allow the tailgate to open.

Ensure that nobody is close to the moving parts when opening/closing the tailgate.

Risk of serious injury.

The attaching of any carrying device (bike rack, luggage box etc.) resting on the luggage compartment lid is prohibited. To install a carrying device on your vehicle, contact an approved dealer.

■ To close

When the vehicle is stopped and the tailgate is open, you can choose one of the following methods:

  • Press and hold the tailgate button 1 on the driver's door.
  • Press the tailgate button 3 to close the tailgate.
  • Press and hold the tailgate button on the key to close the tailgate.Key, remote control
  • Swipe down from the left side of the clock at the top of the center screen to select the [Control Center] screen, then press [Close tailgate].Multimedia equipment
  • If the custom button on the right side of the steering wheel is set to [Open/Close tailgate], briefly press that button.

After closing the tailgate, make sure it is completely closed.

Never use the struts to close the luggage compartment door.

▶ Time-delay Tailgate Closing

When all of the conditions below are met, press the tailgate button 3 twice in succession. An alarm will sound for about 30 seconds, and the tailgate will close.

  • The vehicle ignition must be turned off.
  • All doors must be closed.
  • You must have the key with you.

Note: If you continuously open and close the tailgate, system protection mode will activate, and the operation will stop for a certain period of time.

If you use the 'Time delay tailgate close' function, always ensure that the tailgate is completely closed. If the tailgate is not closed, objects inside the vehicle may move or fall out.

As a safety precaution, the doors should only be opened/closed when the vehicle is stationary.

Risk of injury.

When opening or closing the tailgate, ensure there are no animals or people near it. Be cautious not to get your hands, head, or other body parts caught or hit.

Risk of serious injury.

warning

Do not operate the tailgate by holding the part (electric lifter) 4 that supports it. Applying external force, such as hanging on the electric lifter, may damage the part and cause injury.

Driver's responsibility when parking or stopping the vehicle

Never leave your key inside the vehicle or leave a child, an adult who requires assistance, or a pet inside the vehicle, even for a short while.

They may pose a risk to themselves or to others by starting the engine, activating equipment such as the electric windows, the automatic tailgate or by locking the doors.

Additionally, on hot or sunny days, the temperature inside the vehicle can rise rapidly, posing a serious danger.

RISK OF DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY.

Be cautious, as the engine may start if you step on the pedal and press the START/STOP button while the key is close to the key detection area, even if it is outside the vehicle.

■ Limiting the tailgate opening angle

You can adjust the maximum opening height of the tailgate using the following method, After adjusting the height, the tailgate will always open to the set height.

  • When the tailgate is open, manually adjust the tailgate to the desired position, or press the button 3 to pause when opening or closing the tailgate.
  • Press the button 3 for more than three seconds to save the position.

    Two beeps will sound to notify you that the position has been saved.

  • After this, when you open the tailgate again, it will open to the saved height.
  • To change the set height, manually move the tailgate to the desired position and repeat the above steps.

■ Opening manually from inside the vehicle

If it is impossible to unlock the luggage compartment, it can be done manually from inside:

  • access the luggage compartment by folding down the rear bench seatback(s);
  • remove the tailgate emergency release device cover 5. (Pull back the hook at the top of the cover and pull it.);
  • push the switch (red) of the emergency release device upward to open the tailgate.
