Renault Master 4

If the remote control or, depending on the vehicle, the card does not work

In some cases, the radio frequency remote control or the card may not work:

  • card or radio frequency remote control battery worn or run flat, vehicle battery flat etc.
  • use of electronic devices near to the remote control or card (e.g. mobile phone, etc.);
  • the vehicle is located in a high electromagnetic radiation zone.

It is then possible:

  • to use the key integrated in the radio frequency remote control or the card to unlock the front left-hand door;
  • to lock each of the doors manually;
  • to use the interior door locking/unlocking control;

The card's built-in key

The built-in key 2 can be used to lock or unlock the driver's door when the card is not working.

Accessing the key 2

Slide the rear casing 1 downwards while pressing on area A.

Using the key integrated in the card

Insert the key 2 into the lock 3 then lock or unlock the driver's door.

Once you are inside the vehicle, put the key back in its casing in the card.

Manual locking

Using the key

  • Insert the tip of the key into the notch 4 at the bottom of the cover 5 on the driver's door;
  • move it upwards to remove the cover 5;
  • insert the key into the lock of the driver's door to lock or unlock the door.

Manual locking of the front passenger door and, depending on the vehicle, the rear hinged doors

With the door open, turn the screw 6 (using the end of the key) and close the door.

This means that the door is then locked from the outside.

The doors can then only be opened from inside the vehicle or using the remote control.

Interior locking/unlocking door control

Front doors

The switch 7 controls all the doors. The indicator light on switch 7 is illuminated when the doors are locked after a press. It switches off after unlocking using switch 7.

If one of the doors is opened or incorrectly closed, there is a quick locking/unlocking of all the doors.

Sliding side door and rear hinged doors

The switch 8 controls the rear hinged doors and, depending on the vehicle, the sliding side door. The indicator light on switch 8 is illuminated when the rear doors are locked after a press. It switches off after unlocking using switch 8.

Note: when the vehicle is fully locked, pressing switch 8 will unlock only the rear doors, but the indicator lights on switches 7 and 8 will switch off. The front doors remain locked.

If the sliding side door or rear hinged doors are open or incorrectly closed, there is a quick locking/unlocking of the sliding side door and the rear hinged doors.

Locking the opening elements without the remote control or without the card

For example, in the event of a discharged battery or the card or key temporarily not working etc.

With the engine off, the rear doors closed and a front door open, press the switch 7 for more than five seconds.

Make sure you have your key or card with you before leaving your vehicle.

When the door is closed, all the doors and tailgate will be locked.

Unlocking the driver’s door from outside the vehicle is only possible with the key or the card.

tip

After locking/unlocking the vehicle using the buttons on the card, "hands-free" locking and unlocking is deactivated. To reactivate the "hands-free" mode: restart the vehicle.

Doors and tailgate status indicator light

With the ignition on, the indicator light of switch 7 and 8 indicates the locking status of the opening elements:

  • when the warning light is on, the doors and luggage compartment door are locked;
  • indicator light off, the doors and tailgate are unlocked.

When the ignition is off, the indicator light remains lit and then goes out when you lock the doors.

Locking the doors with the tailgate open

To lock the vehicle leaving a door open (e.g. when transporting something in the luggage compartment which prevents it from being closed), or when the vehicle is located in a high electromagnetic radiation zone, or if the key is faulty: with the ignition switched off, press and hold the switch 7 for more than five seconds.
