Towing: breakdown

Steering column unlocking
Insert the key into the ignition switch and turn it to the "On" position. Put the lever in neutral.
The steering column unlocks and the accessory functions are powered: you can use the vehicle's lights (direction indicators, brake lights, etc.). At night the vehicle must have its lights on.
The speed specified by current legislation for towing must always be observed. If you are driving the towing vehicle, do not exceed the maximum towing weight for your vehicle WEIGHTS (IN KG).
WARNING
Do not remove the key from the ignition when the vehicle is being towed.
WARNING
When the engine is stopped, steering and braking assistance are no longer provided.
Use only the front 1 and rear 4 towing points (never use the drive shafts or any other part of the vehicle).
These towing points may only be used for pulling. They must never be used for lifting the vehicle directly or indirectly.
WARNING
Ensure that the towing ring is bolted correctly.
Risk of losing the towed object.

Access to towing points

Unclip the cover 3 or 5 by inserting a flat-blade screwdriver or similar tool underneath the cover.
Tighten the towing eye 2 to the maximum: first by hand until it stops, then finish by locking it using the wheel brace.
Only use the towing eye 2 and wheel brace located in the luggage compartment TOOLS.
WARNING
  • Use a rigid tow bar. If a rope or cable is used (where the law allows this), the vehicle being towed must be able to brake.
  • a vehicle must not be towed if it is not fit to be driven.
  • avoid accelerating or braking suddenly when towing, as this may result in damage being caused to the vehicle.
  • In any case, it is advisable not to exceed 16 mph (25 km/h).
WARNING
Do not leave the tools unsecured inside the vehicle as they may be projected during braking.
