Choice of child seat mounting

There are two ways of installing child seats: using the seat belt and using theISOFIX system.

Attaching with the seat belt

The seat belt must be adjusted to ensure that it is effective in the event of harsh braking or an impact.

Ensure that the strap paths indicated by the child seat manufacturer are observed.

Always check that the seat belt is correctly fastened by pulling it up, then pulling it out fully whilst pressing on the child seat.

Carrying children

Always comply with the legislation of the particular country you are in.

Children – and adults – must be correctly seated and strapped in during every journey. The children being transported in your vehicle are your responsibility.

SIDE PROTECTION DEVICES

Side airbag

This airbag may equip each of the rear seats. They are fitted to the door side of the seats to protect the seat occupants in the event of a severe side impact.

Curtain airbag

These airbag are fitted along the upper side of the vehicle and they inflate along the windows of the front and rear doors to protect passengers in the event of a severe side impact.

Restraint systems in addition to the front seat belts

Depending on the vehicle, they may consist of:

  • seat belt inertia reel pretensioners;
  • chest force limiters;
  • airbagsfor the driver and front seat passenger.

These systems are designed to act in- dependently or together when the vehicle is subjected to a frontal impact.

The following information applies to the vehicle's front and rear seat belts.

  • No modification must be made to the originally fitted system components (seat belts, bench seats and their mountings). For specific situations (e.g. fitting a child seat), contact an approved dealer.

  • Do not use devices that allow any slack in the belts (clothes pegs, clips, etc.): a seat belt that is too loose may cause injuries in the event of an accident.
