Starting the vehicle using the battery from another vehicle

If the "12 V" battery charge level is too low, it is possible to use the battery of another vehicle to re-activate and operate the hybrid system Starting, stopping the engine.

As the battery cannot be directly accessed, it is necessary to use the remote terminals located in the engine compartment.

Obtain suitable leads (large cross-section) from an Approved Dealer. If you already have jump leads, ensure that they are in good condition.

The two batteries must have an identical nominal voltage: 12 V. The battery supplying the current should have a capacity (amp-hours, Ah) which is at least the same as that of the discharged battery.

Ensure that there is no risk of contact between the two vehicles (risk of short circuiting when the positive terminals are connected) and that the discharged battery is properly connected. Switch off your vehicle ignition.

Start the engine of the vehicle supplying the current and run it at an intermediate engine speed.

tip

Do not use your hybrid vehicle to restart a "12 V" battery in another vehicle. The electrical power in the "12 V" battery of a hybrid vehicle is not sufficient for this operation.

Risk of damage to the vehicle.

warning

Please note when working close to the engine that it may be hot. The engine cooling fan may also start at any moment. The 2_ALL_290_1_pictogramme.png label in the engine compartment reminds you of this.

Risk of injury.

warning

Do not carry out any work under the bonnet while the vehicle is charging or while the ignition is switched on Starting, stopping the engine.

Remote terminals

Use terminal 1 ( + ) and terminal 2 ( ) in the engine compartment.

warning

It is forbidden to disconnect the positive cable in the engine compartment.

Risk of the engine starting inadvertently.

Risk of burns by projection of sparks.

Note: open the cover 3 of terminal 1 ( + ) by pressing the button 4 in the direction indicated by the arrow.

Attach the positive cable A to terminal 1 ( + ), then to terminal5 ( + ) of the battery supplying the current.

Attach the negative cable B to terminal 6 ( ) of the battery supplying the current and then to terminal 2 ( ).

Press the start button and, as soon as the ignition is switched on, disconnect cables A and B in the reverse order (1- 5 - 6 - 2).

warning

Ensure that there is no contact between cables A and B and that positive cable A is not in contact with any metallic component in the vehicle supplying the current.

Risk of injury and/or damage to the vehicle.

Each time you have used the cover 3, check that the cover of terminal 8 is attached correctly to its tab 7.
