12 V battery

Depending on the vehicle, the battery is located under the front carpet or behind the front foot panel and does not require any maintenance. You should not open it or add any fluid.

To access it under the front carpet:

  • remove the two clips 1 and lift the carpet 2;
  • remove the four bolts 3 and remove the cover 4.

To access it behind the front foot panel:

  • remove the six screws 5 ;
  • remove the foot panel 6.

Depending on the vehicle, a system continuously checks the battery charge status.

When the ignition is off, some consumers may also be switched off (dipped beam headlights, radio, ventilation, etc.). When the level is extremely low, the "Battery Low Start Engine" message appears.

The charge status of the battery can decrease, especially if you use your vehicle:

  • for short trips;
  • in an urban setting;
  • when the temperature drops, etc.;
  • with the vehicle stopped and the engine off.

Observe the indications on the battery:

  • 7 naked flames and smoking are prohibited;
  • 8 eye protection compulsory;
  • 9 keep away from children;
  • 10 explosive material;
  • 11 refer to the manual;
  • 12 corrosive materials.

Replacing the battery

For your own safety and for the proper operation of the vehicle's electrical equipment (lights, windscreen wipers, ABS, etc.), any intervention on the battery (removal, disconnection, etc.) must categorically be performed by a specialist professional.
