The passenger airbag may only be deactivated or activated while the vehicle is stationary with the ignition off.

Deactivating the front seat passenger airbag

Before installing a child seat on the front passenger seat:

  • check that the child seat can be installed on this seat;
  • it is essential to deactivate the airbagfor a rear-facing child seat.

To deactivate the airbag: with the vehicle stationary and the ignition switched off, push and turn the lock 1 to the OFF position.

With the ignition on, ensure that the 2_ALL_412_1_pictogramme.png warning light is illuminated on the display 2.

This warning light stays on continuously to let you know you can install a child seat.

DANGER

As the deployment of the front passenger airbag airbag is not compatible with the positioning of a rear-facing child seat, NEVER install a rear-facing child seat restraint system on a seat protected by an ACTIVATED front AIRBAG. This may cause the DEATH or SERIOUS INJURY of the CHILD.

These instructions are provided by markings on the instrument panel and on the labels A on each side of the passenger sun visor 3 (see the example above).

Activating the front passenger airbag

As soon as you remove the child seat from the front passenger seat, reactivate the airbag in order to protect the passenger in the event of an impact.

To reactivate the airbag: with the vehicle stationary and the ignition off, push and turn the lock 1 to the ON position.

When the ignition is on, it is critical to check that the indicator 2_ALL_412_1_pictogramme.png light is off on screen 2.

Operating faults

In the event of a failure in the airbag front passenger activation/deactivation system, the indicator lamps 2_ALL_094_1_pictogramme.png and 1_ALL_036_1_pictogramme.png are displayed in the instrument panel. Turn off the ignition and check the position of the lock 1.

Restart the ignition: the indicator lights go out.

If the problem persists, it will signal a system failure. In this case, it is forbidden for a rear-facing child seat to be installed on the front passenger seat or for any other passenger to occupy the seat.

Speak to an approved dealer as soon as possible.
