Renault Boreal
Operating conditions such as:
- driving for long periods when the low fuel level warning light is lit;
- using leaded petrol;
- using lubricant or fuel additives that are not approved.
Or operating faults such as:
- faulty ignition, running out of fuel or disconnected spark plugs resulting in the engine misfiring or cutting out when driving;
- loss of power;
may cause the catalytic converter to overheat, reducing its efficiency which may irreparably damage it and cause heat damage to the vehicle.
If you notice any of the above operating faults, have the necessary repairs carried out as soon as possible by an Approved Dealer.
Regularly taking your vehicle to an Approved Dealer at the intervals specified in the Maintenance Service Booklet helps to avoid these faults.
Starting faults
To avoid damaging the catalytic converter, do not keep trying to start the engine (by using the starter or by pushing/towing the vehicle), without having identified and corrected the fault.
Do not continue to try to start the engine, and contact an Approved Dealer.
Flex filling
After filling up with a change of fuel, from petrol to ethanol or vice versa, drive the vehicle a distance of 4 to 6 miles (7 to 10 km) or for at least 10 minutes so that the fuel injection system can identify and adapt to the new fuel, avoiding problems starting the engine and loss of performance.
If the vehicle stops due to running out of fuel, fill up the vehicle with the same type of fuel that was previously in the tank (petrol or ethanol).
If it is necessary to fill up the vehicle with a different fuel from what was previously in the tank, the above-mentioned problems may occur.
When filling the vehicle, always ensure that the key is fully in the off position.
warning
Do not park the vehicle or run the engine in locations where combustible substances or materials such as leaves or newspaper can come into contact with the hot exhaust system.
Fire hazard.
