If fitted to the vehicle, this system warns the driver if one or more tyres lose pressure.

Operating principle

The system detects the loss of pressure in a tyre by measuring the wheel speed while driving.

The warning light 2_ALL_197_1_pictogramme.png is displayed on the instrument panel to alert the driver in the event of insufficient tyre pressure (flat tyre, puncture, etc.).

warning

This function is an additional driving aid.

The function does not take the place of the driver. It cannot, therefore, under any circumstances replace the vigilance or the responsibility of the driver.

Check the tyre pressures, including the emergency spare wheel, once a month.

Operating conditions

In order to provide reliable warning in the event of a significant pressure loss, the system should be reset to an inflation pressure equal to that indicated on the tyre inflation pressure label (reference values). Tyre pressure

The tyres should always be reset after checking the tyre pressure of all four tyres when cold.

In the following situations, there is a risk that the warning system will activate late or not work correctly:

  • the system is not reset after the tyres are inflated or following any other operation on the wheels;
  • the system resets incorrectly because of the tyres being inflated to a pressure different from that recommended;
  • a significant change to the load or the load distribution on one side of the vehicle;
  • sporty driving using rapid acceleration;
  • when driving on a slippery or snow-covered surface;
  • when driving with snow chains;
  • when only one new tyre is fitted;
  • using tyres which are not those specified.
tip

The tyre pressure should be checked before starting the reset process.

The system will not issue a warning if the pressure does not match the recommended pressure.

tip

The sudden loss of pressure in a tyre (burst tyre, etc.) cannot be detected by the system.

Procedure for resetting tyre pressure reference values

This should be performed:

  • after each calibration or reset of the tyre pressure;
  • after changing a wheel;
  • after rotating wheels (although this practice is not recommended);

Tyre pressures must correspond to the current usage of the vehicle (empty, carrying a load, motorway driving, etc.). Make sure to check tyre pressures regularly (including the spare wheel). Check them at least once a month and always before a long journey (see the tyre inflation pressure label (reference values) Tyre pressure).

Reset Procedure via Multimedia Screen 1

The reset procedure must be carried out with the vehicle stationary and the ignition on.

See the multimedia instructions for more information.

warning

For your own safety, if the warning light 1_ALL_040_1_pictogramme.png comes on, stop immediately, or as soon as traffic conditions allow.

Recalibrate the tyre pressure.

The pressure of all four tyres must be set cold (see tyre inflation pressure label (reference values) Tyre pressure).

If tyre pressures cannot be checked when the tyres are cold, the recommended pressures should be increased by 0.2 to 0.3 bar (3 psi).

Never deflate a hot tyre.

Every time a tyre is inflated or the tyre pressure is adjusted, the tyre pressure reference value should be reset.

Replacing wheels/tyres

Only use equipment approved by Renault.

Otherwise, the system may kick in late or not work properly Tyres.

Every time a wheel/tyre is changed, adjust the tyre pressure and reset the tyre pressure reference value.

Emergency spare wheel

If the vehicle is equipped with the system, adjust the tyre pressure and reset the tyre pressure reference value.

Tyre repair product and inflation kit

Only use equipment approved by Renault.

Otherwise, the system may kick in late or not work properly.

After using the tyre inflation kit, adjust the tyre pressure and start resetting the tyre pressure reference value.

Warning messages

The table below lists the warning messages that appear on the instrument panel when the system detects a tyre pressure failure.

The information on the instrument panel signals any potential tyre pressure faults (e.g. deflated or punctured tyre)

Indicator light

Warning messages

Reason

2_ALL_197_1_pictogramme.png lights up (without flashing).

Inflate tyres and init.

This indicates that the tyre is not full enough or that a puncture has been detected. Check and adjust the pressure of all four tyres when cold, and restart the system.

2_ALL_197_1_pictogramme.png flashes and then stays on.

Check tyre press and init.

This indicates that the resetting was not successful. Check and readjust the tyre pressure before starting the resetting procedure.

2_ALL_197_1_pictogramme.png Flashes, then stays on, along with the warning light 1_ALL_036_1_pictogramme.png

Check TPW

This indicates a system failure. consult an approved dealer.

2_ALL_197_1_pictogramme.png flashes and then stays on.

TPW not available

This indicates that an emergency spare wheel different in size from the other four wheels has been fitted on the vehicle. The system remains unavailable until a wheel of the same size as the other wheels is has been fitted and the resetting procedure has been carried out.
