Using the information from camera 1, the function triggers corrective action in the vehicle's steering system when a continuous or dashed line is crossed or when the vehicle is approaching the side of the lane (divider, barrier, pavement, containment, etc.) without activating the turn indicator lights.

Depending on the configuration, in the event of crossing a dashed line without activating the direction indicator lights, the function:

  • warns the driver without corrective action on the steering system;

or

  • performs corrective actions on the steering system.
tip
You can regain control of the vehicle at any time by moving the steering wheel.
warning

This function is an additional driving aid. The driver should always be in control of the vehicle, with this system not being a replacement for due care and attention in any way.

Camera location 1

Make sure that the windscreen is not obscured (by dirt, mud, snow, condensation, etc.).

Activation/deactivation

tip

Depending on the vehicle and according to the time elapsed since the last time the engine was switched off, the function is reactivated:

  • when the vehicle is unlocked;

or

  • when a door is opened;

or

  • when the engine is started again.

Enabling and disabling the system on the multimedia screen 2

See the multimedia instructions for more information.

Enabling and disabling the system using switch 3My Safety

The function can be disabled or enabled using the "Perso" mode of the "My Safety" function My Safety. If the function has been previously disabled from "Perso" mode:

  • to disable the function, if it has been disabled in the "Perso" mode of the "My Safety" function, My Safety press switch 3 twice. The indicator light 1_ALL_800_1_pictogramme.png is displayed in yellow on the instrument panel.
  • To re-enable the function, press switch 3 once. The indicator light 2_ALL_479_1_pictogramme.png is lit up on the instrument panel.

Operation

When the function is enabled, the indicator light 2_ALL_479_1_pictogramme.png and line indicators on the left and right sides 4 are displayed in grey on the instrument panel.

The function is ready to warn or operate when the speed is between approximately 40 mph and 105 mph and the indicator light 2_ALL_479_1_pictogramme.png and the right or left line indicators 4 are displayed in white on the instrument panel.

The function is in operation if the vehicle:

  • approaches a road without activating the turn signals;
  • crosses a continuous line without activating the turn signals;
  • crosses a non-continuous line without activating the turn signals and if the "non-continuous line operation" setting is selected.

In these cases:

  • the function initiates an action in the vehicle's steering system to correct the vehicle's trajectory;

and

  • the indicator light 2_ALL_479_1_pictogramme.png is displayed in yellow and indicator 4 on the side of the dashed line changes to yellow on the instrument panel.

If corrective action on the steering system is not sufficient, the indicator light 2_ALL_479_1_pictogramme.png will be displayed in red and indicator light 4 on the dashed line side will change to red on the instrument panel. This is accompanied by a vibration in the steering wheel.

If the "Dashed line intervention" setting is not selected, the function will sound the alarm if the vehicle crosses a non-continuous line without activating the indicator lights and there is no shoulder close enough to the line.

In this case, the function warns the driver:

  • by a vibration in the steering wheel;

and

  • the indicator 2_ALL_479_1_pictogramme.png light is displayed in red and indicator 4 on the side of the dashed line changes to red on the instrument panel.

Note: When cornering, the function allows you to cut off the corner slightly.

Special case

Warnings "Keep control"

  • If the system is working and does not detect any activity from the driver on the steering wheel, the message "Keep control" will be displayed on the instrument panel accompanied by a beep and the indicator light 2_ALL_360_1_pictogramme.png will appear yellow until the driver regains control of the vehicle.
  • If the system has been in operation for a long time, the message "Keep control" will be displayed on the instrument panel accompanied by a beep and the indicator light 2_ALL_360_1_pictogramme.png will appear yellow accompanied by indicator 4 on the affected line side until the driver regains control of the vehicle.
tip
You can stop the trajectory correction at any time by moving the steering wheel.

Vehicle equipped with the "Active driver assist" system

If the "Lane Centring" function is activated at the same time as the "Lane Departure Prevention" function, the display of the indicator varies according to the following cases:

  • The "Track Centring" function is enabled: the green indicator 2_ALL_359_1_pictogramme.png replaces the white or grey indicator on the panel. This provides priority information about the status of the "Track Centring" function;
  • The "Lane centering" function is put on standby and the "Lane departure prevention" function is not on alert or in intervention: the grey indicator 2_ALL_359_1_pictogramme.png replaces the white or grey indicator 2_ALL_479_1_pictogramme.png on the dashboard. This way, you are informed of the status of the "Lane Centring" function as a priority;
  • The "Lane Centring" function is put on standby while the "Lane Departure Prevention" function is on alert or in intervention: the indicator light 2_ALL_479_1_pictogramme.png is displayed in red or yellow on the dashboard. This provides priority information about the status of the "Lane Departure Prevention" function.

In any case, you will be informed at all times about the status of the function, as it controls your vehicle's steering system. The most useful information is always displayed.

Function temporarily unavailable/disabled

The system is temporarily unavailable or disabled when:

  • departing on the very fast lane;
  • driving in a continuous line;
  • approximately after the lane change;
  • sharp turns;
  • impaired visibility;
  • one of the turn signals is activated;
  • warning lights are activated;
  • the reverse gear is engaged;
  • strong acceleration;
  • changes in the width of the road;
  • the anti-lock wheel system is in operation;
  • operation of electronic stability control ESC;
  • operation of the anti-lock braking system.

When the function is not available, the indicator light 2_ALL_479_1_pictogramme.png changes to grey on the instrument panel.

Automatic disabling

The function is disabled automatically when:

  • the electronic stability control ESC is disabled or malfunctions;
  • the anti-lock braking system fails;
  • a towbar is electrically connected to the trailer hitch socket;
  • the warning light 2_ALL_116_1_pictogramme.png goes on.

When the function is disabled, the indicator light 1_ALL_800_1_pictogramme.png is displayed in yellow on the instrument panel.

Adjustment

To access the function settings for the multimedia display 2, refer to the multimedia instructions:

  • "Dashed line intervention": Use the setting to select the function response if the vehicle crosses a non-continuous line without enabling one of the indicators:
    • Setting selected: the function can initiate an action in the vehicle's steering system to correct the vehicle's trajectory;
    • Setting not selected: the function can warn the driver through a vibration in the steering wheel without correcting the vehicle's trajectory.
  • "Vibration": adjust the vibration level of the steering wheel for the "Lane departure prevention" function;
  • Depending on the vehicle, "Lane Departure Anticipation" or "Warning": adjust the level of line detection sensitivity. To do this, select:
    • "Late": line detected at the intersection;
    • "Standard": line detected on approach;
    • "Early": line detected nearby.

See the multimedia instructions for more information.

Operating faults

When the system detects an operational failure:

  • the indicator light 2_ALL_479_1_pictogramme.png is displayed in yellow on the instrument panel;

in some cases, they are accompanied by:

  • message "Driving assist unavailable";

or

  • message "Check Driving assist" or "Check Front camera".

consult an approved dealer.

Warnings

warning

This function is an additional driving aid. This function is not under any circumstances intended to replace the due care and attention of the driver, who should at all times be in control of the vehicle.

System servicing/repairs

  • In the event of an impact, the camera alignment may be changed, and its operation may consequently be affected. Deactivate the function and consult an authorised dealer.
  • Any work in the area where the camera is located (repairs, replacements, windscreen modifications etc.) must be carried out by a qualified professional.

Only an authorised dealer is qualified to service the system.

In the event of system disturbance

Some conditions can disturb or damage the operation of the system, such as:

  • windscreen obscured (by dirt, ice, snow, condensation etc.) ;
  • a complex environment (tunnel etc.) ;
  • poor weather conditions (snow, rain, hail, black ice etc.) ;
  • poor visibility (night, fog etc.) ;
  • the road markings are irregular or difficult to distinguish (e.g. partially erased, excessive spacing, distorted road surface) ;
  • being dazzled (glaring sun, lights of vehicles travelling in the opposite direction etc.) ;
  • the road is narrow, winding or undulating (tight bends etc.) ;
  • closely following a vehicle travelling in the same lane.

In this case, the "Lane departure prevention" function may be activated incorrectly or not at all.

Risk of unwanted, incorrect correction or no correction of trajectory.

Deactivating the function

You must disable the function if:

  • the area of the camera has been damaged (on the windscreen side or the interior rear-view mirror side);
  • the road is slippery (snow, black ice, aquaplaning, gravel etc.) ;
  • poor visibility (night, fog etc.) ;
  • the windscreen is cracked or distorted (do not carry out windscreen repairs in this area; have it changed by an Authorised Dealer);
  • the vehicle is towing a trailer or a caravan;
  • the vehicle is entering an area with several surface markings (an area with road works etc.).
