Using information from sensors mounted on either side of the rear bumper (zone C), the function warns the driver:

  • when a vehicle is in the blind-spot area A and is travelling in the same direction as your vehicle;

and/or

  • when there is a risk of collision with a vehicle in zone B which is travelling faster than your vehicle on an adjacent road.

The function warns you when your vehicle is travelling at a speed of more than approximately 10 mph.

tip

The function does not notify the driver if other vehicles are not moving.

warning

This function is an addi- tional driving aid. This function does not in any way replace the vigilance and responsibility of the driver, who must always ensure control of the vehicle.

Special feature

Make sure that the zone C around the radars on either side of the rear bumper is not obstructed (by dirt, mud, snow, etc.).

If one of the radars is obscured, the message "Side radars no visibility" is displayed on the instrument panel. Clean the area where the sensors are located.

Warning light 1

There is a warning light 1 on each of the door mirrors 2.

Note:

  • clean the door mirrors 2 regularly so that the warning lights 1 can be seen.
  • If you overtake another vehicle, the warning light 1 will come on only if that vehicle remains in the blind-spot area A of the vehicle for a sufficiently long period.

Warning light display 1

First warning: Direction indicator not activated, warning light 1 indicates that a vehicle is detected in the blind-spot zone and/or that a vehicle is approaching quickly from behind on an adjacent road.

Display D , E and F

Direction indicator activated, indicator 1 flashes when the function detects a vehicle in the blind-spot zone and/or a vehicle rapidly approaching from behind on the side where you are going to turn the steering wheel.

Display D

The function does not detect a vehicle or a cyclist in zone A or B.

Display E

First alert: arrow not activated, indicator 1 warns that a vehicle or cyclist is detected in zone A or B, on the same side of the vehicle as the indicator.

Display F

If the turn signal is activated, indicator light 1 will flash when the function detects a vehicle or cyclist in zone A or B.

If you deactivate the arrow, the function will return to the initial alert (display E).

Note: the alert function is based on information from the radar. In certain situations (traffic jams, etc.), it can warn of any type of moving object in zone A or B.

Does not operate

  • When driving on a road with tight bends;

  • in reverse.

If the vehicle is equipped with a trailer that is recognised by the system, the message "Trailer: side radars OFF" will be displayed on the instrument panel to inform you that the function is not operational. We suggest that you speak to an authorised dealer about the right type of equipment for your vehicle.

Operating faults

If the system detects a fault, the message "Check Side radars" appears on the instrument panel.

Consult an Approved Dealer.

warning

Due to the presence of sensors behind the bumper, it is advisable to ask a qualified professional to carry out any intervention on the bumper (repair, replacement, painting, etc.).

Warnings

warning
  • The detection area of the system matches the normal width of road lanes. If you are driving on a wide road, the system may not detect a vehicle in the blind spot.
  • In case of very adverse weather conditions (heavy rain, snow, etc.), the system may be temporarily interrupted. Remain alert to the driving conditions.

There is a risk of accidents.

warning

This function is an additional driving aid. The driver should always be in control of the vehicle, with this system not being a replacement for due care and attention in any way.

The driver should always drive at a speed appropriate for the traffic conditions, irrespective of system warnings.

Under no circumstances should the system be used to detect obstacles or as an anti-collision system.

System repairs/maintenance

  • In the event of a collision, the radar may be misaligned. In this case its operation will be affected. Consult an Approved Dealer.
  • Any work in the area where the sensors are located (such as repairs, replacement, etc.) must be carried out by a qualified professional.

Only an authorised dealer is fully certified to carry out system maintenance.

System malfunctions

Some conditions may damage or affect the system, such as:

  • complex environments (metallic bridges, tunnels, roads with barriers on the sides, etc.);
  • poor weather conditions (snow, hail, black ice, etc.).
  • the vehicle is equipped with a trailer not recognised by the system.

Risk of false alarms or the absence of such warnings

Speak to an authorised dealer if you notice any abnormal behaviour.

warning

System operating limits

  • To ensure that the system operates effectively, the area around the radar should be kept clean and not modified in any way.
  • Small objects moving close to the vehicle such as motorcycles, bicycles, pedestrians, etc., may not be recognised by the system.
  • When the vehicle turns a corner or moves through a bend on the road, the detectors may be temporarily unable to detect vehicles in adjacent lanes.
  • The function may warn you late if two other vehicles are approaching from behind, driving side by side in adjacent lanes (i.e. when driving on a 3-lane road) and at a much higher speed than your vehicle.

  • The system may not issue any warning when other vehicles are travelling at a significantly different speed.

  • If the vehicle is being overtaken by a long vehicle (e.g. a trailer overtaking at a similar speed to the vehicle), the system may stop the warning before the end of the manoeuvre.
  • The vehicle is moving along a winding road.
