Using information from radars on either side of the rear bumper (area A), the system notifies the driver when another vehicle appears in detection zone B.

The function is enabled if:

  • reverse gear is engaged;

and

  • the vehicle is stationary or at low speed.

tip

The detection capability of the system depends on the environment (static objects, etc.) around the vehicle, the condition of the bumper, etc.

warning

This function is an additional aid. It cannot, therefore, under any circumstances replace the vigilance or the responsibility of the driver.

The driver should always be prepared for sudden accidents while driving: when manoeuvring always check that there are no movable, small or narrow obstacles (such as children, animals, prams, bicycles, stones, posts, etc.) in your blind spot.

Special feature

Make sure that the radar area A is not obscured (by stickers, mud, snow, etc.).

If one of the radars is obscured, the message "Side radars no visibility" is displayed on the instrument panel. Clean the area where the sensors are located.

Enabling/disabling by means of multimedia display 1

To activate or deactivate the function, refer to the multimedia system instructions.

Select “ON” or “OFF”.

Operation

The function warns you when there is an approaching vehicle in area B .

When a vehicle is detected, the warning lights 2 come on in both rear-view mirrors 3.

Note: Regularly clean the mirrors 3 to ensure that the warning lights 2 remain visible.

Warning lights 4 on the multimedia screen show which side the oncoming vehicle has been detected.

Note: Clean the chamber regularly so that it is not obscured.

Warning lights 2 and 4 are accompanied by an audible warning when reverse gear is engaged and the vehicle is moving.

If the vehicle is equipped with a towbar recognised by the system and a trailer has been attached, the Park Departure Warning will be automatically disabled. The message "Driving assist unavailable" is displayed on the instrument panel to warn the driver.

Operating faults

If the system detects a fault, the "Check Side radars" message will be displayed on the instrument panel. Consult an Approved Dealer.

tip

Due to the presence of sensors behind the bumper, it is advisable to ask a qualified professional to carry out any intervention on the bumper (repair, replacement, painting, etc.).

warning

Limitation of system operation

  • The radar area must remain clean and free from modifications, in order to ensure the correct operation of the system.

  • Small objects (motorcycles, bicycles, pedestrians, etc.) moving towards the vehicle may not be recognised by the system.

Disabling the feature

You will need to disable the function if:

  • radar area A has been damaged (rear bumper);

  • the vehicle is equipped with a trailer not recognised by the system.

Warnings

warning

This function is an addi- tional driving aid. This function does not in any way replace the vigilance and responsibility of the driver, who must always ensure control of the vehicle.

Under no circumstances should the system be used to detect obstacles or as an anti-collision system.

System interventions/repairs

  • In the event of a collision, the position of the radars can be changed, which will affect the function. Deactivate the feature and consult an approved dealer.
  • Interventions in the radar area (repairs, replacements, etc.) must be carried out by a qualified professional.

Only an authorised dealer is authorised to intervene in the system.

Cases of system disruption

Certain conditions may disrupt or damage the operation of the system, such as:

  • A complex environment (underground parking, metal structures, etc.);

  • Bad weather (snow, heavy rain, hail, ice, etc.).

Risk of false alarms or the absence of such warnings

Contact an authorised dealer if you notice any abnormal behaviour.
