Renault Boreal
This function is an additional driving aid for the safety of the vehicle occupants.
The purpose of the "Safe Passenger Exit" function is to alert the driver and/or passengers to the potential danger of opening their doors when the vehicle is stationary.
Using information from sensors mounted on either side of the rear bumper (zone C), the function warns the driver:
when another vehicle (or motorcycle, bicycle, pedestrian, etc.) is in detection zone A;
and
when there is a risk of collision with a vehicle (or motorcycle, bicycle, pedestrian, etc.) in zone B.
Special feature
Make sure that the zone C around the radars on either side of the rear bumper is not obstructed (by dirt, mud, snow, etc.).
If one of the radars is obscured, the message "Side radars no visibility" is displayed on the instrument panel. Clean the area where the sensors are located.
You will need to disable the function if:
radar area C has been damaged (rear bumper);
the vehicle is equipped with a trailer not recognised by the system.
Operation
When a door is opened or when a moving object is detected, warning light 1 appears in the rear-view mirror 2 and, depending on the vehicle, the ambient lights in the front door will be on.
Note: Regularly clean the mirrors 2 to ensure that the warning lights 1 remain visible.
When the detected object is too close, an audible signal will be emitted and accompanied by the warning message 3 "Lateral obstacle detected" in the Instrument Cluster.
Note: The system will remain active for some time after turning off the ignition.
Activation/deactivation by multimedia display 4
To activate or deactivate the function, refer to the multimedia system instructions.
tip
When unlocking the vehicle, the function returns to the last state recorded on the multimedia screen.
Non-operating conditions
The vehicle is still in motion and is not completely stationary;
The vehicle is locked from the outside;
There are moving objects (motorcycles, bicycles, pedestrians, vehicles, etc.) moving towards or near your vehicle at low speed, which are not considered to be a risk by the system;
The range of action of the sensors that are located inside the rear bumper is hidden by objects such as other, particularly wide vehicles parked very close to your vehicle.
If the vehicle is equipped with a trailer that is recognised by the system, the message "Driving assist unavailable" will be displayed on the instrument panel to inform you that the function is not operational.
We suggest that you speak to an approved dealer about the right type of equipment for your vehicle.
Operating faults
If the system detects a fault, the "Check Side radars" message will be displayed on the instrument panel. Consult an Approved Dealer.

This function is an additional driving aid and may not detect certain vehicles or moving objects in the vicinity of your vehicle. This function is in no way a substitute for the attention and responsibility of the driver and the occupants of the vehicle, who shall remain responsible for paying special attention to traffic conditions and checking the area before leaving the vehicle.
Cases of system disruption
Certain conditions (complex environment, adverse weather conditions, etc.) may disturb or damage the operation of the system, including the risk of false alarms.
