Renault Koleos
Windscreen wash, wipe
If there is dirt, ice, or sand on the windshield glass, clean it off before using the wiper.
Do not use the wiper when the windshield glass is dry. Otherwise, it may scratch the windshield glass and affect the life of the wiper blades.
Front windscreen wiper lever 1
- A Speed 3
Fast continuous wiping
The wiper runs at a higher speed.
- A Speed 2
Slow continuous wiping
The wiper runs at a lower speed.
- A Speed 1 AUTO
When this position is selected, the system detects water on the windshield and triggers the wipers at a suitable wiping speed.
It is possible to change the triggering threshold, and the time sweeps by turning ring 2:
- Clockwise: high sensitivity
- Counter-clockwise: low sensitivity
The higher the sensitivity, the quicker the wipers will react and the faster they will wipe.
When activating automatic wiping or when increasing sensitivity, one sweep of the blades is performed.
- O
Stop
- B
Single sweep
A short push will trigger one sweep of the wipers.
Precautions when using rain-sensing wipers
The rain sensor is only intended as a driving aid. In the event of reduced visibility, the driver should manually activate the wipers. In foggy weather or during snowfalls, wiping is not automatically triggered and remains under the driver’s control.
- Please keep the rain sensor area clean, to avoid affecting the sensitivity of the rain sensor and the use of wipers.
- Due to the use of an optical sensor, temporary malfunctions may occur with sudden changes in ambient light caused by tunnels, underground parking lots, stones, or dust while driving.
- Do not use activate automatic wiping in dry weather.
- Before any action involving the windshield (washing the vehicle, de-icing, cleaning the windshield, etc.) return the wiper lever 1 to position O (stop).Risk of injury and/or damage.
Fully de-ice the windshield glass before activating automatic wiping.
If you do not remove snow and/or ice before using the wiper and washer, it may damage the wiper and washer system.
- Set the wiper to the stop position O when the wiper is not in use.
- Do not activate the wipers when the windshield is dry. This will lead to the premature wear or damage to the blades.
When driving the vehicle, the wiping speed slows down whenever the vehicle stops.
For example, fast wiping speed will slow to normal wiping speed.
As soon as the vehicle moves off, wiping will return to the speed originally selected.
If the wiper lever 1 is operated, it overrides and cancels the automatic function.
Specific front wiper position (service position)
On the multimedia central screen, click in turn: [Settings]
–
[Car] – [Wiper Settings], and then
activate/deactivate the [Front wiper service
position] function.
This position enables the blades to be lifted to remove them from the windshield glass.
It may be useful to:
- to clean the blades.
- to release the blades from the windshield glass in winter.
- replace the blades: Wiper blades: replacement
To return the blades to low position, ensure that the wipers have folded down onto the windshield glass, then deactivate the [Front wiper service position] function.
Before switching on the ignition, place the wipers on the windshield glass. Otherwise, there may be a risk of damage to the bonnet or the wipers when they are switched on.
Front windshield wash/wipe
When you pull the wiper lever 1 toward you, the windshield washer fluid is sprayed and the wiper operates. The spray and wiper operation will continue until you release the wiper lever 1. When you release the lever, the washer fluid spraying stops, and the windshield wiper operates several more times before stopping.
Rain sensor 5
The sunlight sensor is integrated with the rain sensor and the ambient light sensor.
The rain sensor 5 is installed behind the front windshield senses the amount of rainfall and controls the wiping cycle for the proper interval. The front windshield wiper operation time will be automatically controlled depends on the amount of rainfall.
Please keep the rain sensor area clean, to avoid affecting the sensitivity of the rain sensor and the use of wipers.
warning
Before taking any action involving the windscreen (washing the vehicle, deicing or cleaning, etc.) return the stalk 1 to the off position.
Risk of injury and/or damage.
Before driving in rainy weather, always check if the wiper is operating. Do not drive if the wiper does not work.
In the event of obstacles on the windshield (dirt, snow, ice etc.), clean the windshield (including the central area located behind the interior rear view mirror) before starting the wipers (risk of motor overheating).
If an object is preventing a blade from moving, it may stop functioning. Remove the obstacle and reactivate the wiper using the wiper stalk.
Check the condition of wiper blades. How long they last depends on you:
it must remain clean : clean the blade and the windshield regularly with soapy water.
do not use it when the windshield is dry.
free it from the windshield when it has not been used for a long time. In all cases, replace it as soon as it begins to lose efficiency: approximately once a year. Wiper blades: replacement
Precaution for using the wipers
- In freezing or snowy weather conditions, clear the screen before operating the wipers (risk of wiper motor overheating).
- ensure that no objects are obstructing the travel of the blade.
warning
When working in the engine compartment, ensure that the windscreen wiper stalk is in position O (stop).
Risk of injury.
Operating faults
In the event of a malfunction of the automatic wiping system, the wiper will switch to intermittent wiping. Contact an approved dealer.
The operation of the rain sensor can be disturbed in the event of :
- damaged wiper blades ; a screen of water or traces left by a blade in the sensor’s detection zone, which may increase the response time of the automatic wiper or increase the wiping frequency.
- a windshield with any chip or crack level with the sensor, or a windshield covered in dust, dirt, insects, ice, the use of washing wax and waterrepellent chemicals ; the automatic wiping will be less sensitive, or even unresponsive.
Rear windscreen wash, wiper
Rear windshield wiper
When you press switch 3 on the wiper lever 1, the rear windshield wiper operates intermittently, pausing for several seconds between sweeps.
When you press switch 4 on the wiper lever 1, the rear windshield wiper operates continuously.
If the switch is in the center, it indicates that the rear windshield wiper stops wiping.
Activation/deactivation of the rear screen wiper
On the multimedia central screen, click in turn: [Settings] – [Car] – [Wiper settings] and then activate/deactivate [Reverse Wiper] function.
Engaging reverse gear triggers continuous wiping if the front wiper in operation(Low-speed wiping, High-speed wiping).
Rear windscreen wash/wipe
Push the wiper lever 1 away from you to spray rear windshield washer fluid and operate the rear windshield wiper. After the wiper lever 1 is released, the washer will stop spraying, and the wiper will return to its original position after several wipes.
