Renault Kardian Latam

Operation

When reverse gear is engaged, the camera 1 shows a view of the area behind the vehicle on the multimedia display 2, accompanied by two moving or fixed guide lines 3 and 4.

This system uses various moving guide lines to indicate the vehicle trajectory and fixed lines to indicate the distance. When the red zone is reached, use the bumper image to stop accurately.

Fixed clearance guide line 3

The fixed area is made of colour marks A, B and C which indicate the distance behind the vehicle:

  • A (red) approximately 30 centimetres from the vehicle;
  • B (yellow) approximately 70 centimetres from the vehicle;
  • C (green) approximately 150 centimetres from the vehicle.

This gauge remains fixed and indicates the vehicle trajectory if the wheels are in line with the vehicle.

Moving guide line 4:

This information is shown in blue on the multimedia screen 2. It indicates the vehicle trajectory according to the position of the steering wheel.

Special instructions

Make sure that the reversing camera is not obscured (by dirt, mud, snow, condensation etc.).

Adjustment

With the vehicle stationary and the engine running, on the multimedia screen 2 you can add or remove the guide lines and adjust the camera's image settings (brightness, contrast, etc.). See the multimedia instructions for more information.

tip

The screen displays a reverse mirror image.

The frames are a representation projected onto a flat surface. This information should not be considered when superimposed on a vertical object or an object on the ground.

Objects which appear on the edge of the screen may be deformed.

In very bright light (snow, vehicle in sunshine etc.), the camera vision may be adversely affected.

If the luggage compartment is open or incorrectly closed, the "Luggage compartment open" message is displayed.

warning

This function is an additional aid. It cannot, therefore, under any circumstances replace the vigilance or the responsibility of the driver.

The driver should always be prepared for sudden accidents while driving: when manoeuvring always check that there are no mobile, small or narrow obstacles (such as children, animals, prams, bicycles, stones, posts etc.) in your blind spot.

Operating Faults

When reverse gear is engaged, if the system detects an operational fault, a black screen is displayed temporarily on the multimedia screen 2.

This may be caused by a temporary fault affecting the camera or the screen (clarity, fixed image, delayed communication, etc.).

If the temporary display of the black screen persists, consult an approved dealer.

Difference between the estimated distance and the actual distance

Reversing towards a steep uphill slope

The fixed guide lines 3 show distances that are shorter than in reality.

The objects shown on the screen are actually further away on the slope.

For example, if the screen displays an object at D, the actual distance of the object is E.

Reversing towards a steep downhill slope

The fixed guide lines 3 show distances as further away than in reality.

However, the objects shown on the screen are actually closer on the slope.

For example, if the screen displays an object at G, the actual distance of the object is F.

Reversing towards a protruding object

Position H appears to be further away than position J on the screen. However, position H is at the same distance as position K.

The trajectory indicated by the fixed and mobile guide lines does not take into account the height of the object. Therefore, there is a risk that the vehicle will collide with the object while reversing towards position K.
