Renault Koleos

If you continue to brake with the brake pedal on a long downhill, the brake system may overheat and the braking power may decrease. In this case, if possible, put the transmission into manual mode and shift to a low gear to allow the engine brake to work.

If the lower part of the wheel rim or more is submerged in water due to washing the car or heavy rain, the brake system may get wet and the braking power may decrease. Therefore, if the traffic conditions and speed limit allow, lightly press the brake pedal several times to dry the brakes.

warning

There should be no objects on the floor near the driver's seat. Objects could get under the brake pedal and interfere with braking.

■ Brake pads

If the front brake pads are worn beyond the limit, a metallic noise will be heard from the disc. This is not a malfunction, but rather an indication that the pads need to be replaced.

Check the wear status of the front and rear brake pads according to the inspection cycle and replace the brake pads at an approved dealer if necessary.

warning

Avoid using engine brakes abruptly on slippery surfaces. This can reduce vehicle steering and lead to a risk of accident.

Depending on certain driving conditions or weather, your brakes may make noise when you apply the brakes.

warning

If you continue to ride without replacing the brake pads when they are worn out, the discs will be damaged and you will have to press the pedal harder to achieve the same braking distance.

■ Multi collision brake (MCB)

If a collision occurs that is severe enough to deploy the airbag, the vehicle's brake system may be activated automatically. This function can reduce the vehicle's speed and potentially prevent or reduce the severity of subsequent collisions.

For this function to work, the brake system must be in good working order after the first collision.

While the function is in operation, the stop lamp and emergency flashers will illuminate and the brake system may make noise. The emergency flashers will also continue to flash even after the vehicle has stopped.

If the driver determines that braking is not appropriate, the system can be deactivated by pressing the accelerator pedal.
