Renault Kardian Latam
This system alerts the driver if there are other vehicles in the detection zone A.
The system is activated when the vehicle is travelling between 19 mph and 87 mph (30 km/h and 140 km/h).
This function uses sensors 1 installed on either side of the front and rear bumpers.
Special instructions
Make sure that the sensors are not obscured (by dirt, mud, snow, etc.).
If a sensor is obstructed, the "Blind spot: clean sensor" message will be displayed on the instrument panel. Clean the sensors.
warning
This function helps warn that there are other vehicles in the blind spot.
The system cannot replace the vigilance or the responsibility of the driver when driving the vehicle.
The driver should always be prepared for unexpected situations while driving: when manoeuvring always check that there are no mobile obstacles (such as children, animals, prams or bicycles) or small or narrow objects such as stones, posts in your blind spot.
Activation/deactivation
To activate or deactivate the function, refer to the multimedia system instructions.
Select "ON" or "OFF".
tip
The detection area of the system matches the normal width of road lanes. If you are driving in narrow road lanes, it may detect vehicles travelling in other lanes.
Warning light 3
A warning light 3 is located on each door mirror 4.
Note: clean the door mirrors 4 regularly so that the warning lights 3 can be seen.
Operation
This function gives a warning:
- when the vehicle is moving at a speed between 19 mph and 87 mph (30 km/h and 140 km/h);
- when another vehicle is in the blind spot and is travelling in the same direction as your vehicle.
When overtaking another vehicle, the warning light 3 will only be activated if the vehicle remains in the blind spot for more than a second.
Display B
The function is active but does not detect vehicles.
Display C
First warning: the warning light 3 shows that a vehicle has been detected in the blind spot.
Display D
When the direction indicator is activated, the warning light 3 will flash when a vehicle has been detected in the blind spot on the side indicated by the direction indicators. If you cancel the direction indicator light, the function will return to its initial condition (display C).
warning
As the sensors are installed in the bumpers, we recommend that any work on the bumpers (repair, replacement, paintwork, etc.) be carried out by a qualified professional.
Does not operate
- If the object is not moving;
- if there is heavy traffic;
- if the road is winding;
- if both the front and rear sensors detect an object at the same time (e.g. when passing an articulated lorry).
- ...
Operating faults:
If the system detects a fault, the "Check blind spot warning" message is displayed on the instrument panel. Please contact an authorised dealer.
Note: when you start the engine, the warning light 3 (display B) will flash three times. This is normal.
Warnings
warning
- The detection area of the system matches the normal width of road lanes. If you are driving on a wide road, the system may not detect a vehicle in the blind spot.
- The system may be temporarily interrupted if the vehicle is exposed to high levels of electromagnetic radiation (e.g. in the vicinity of high voltage transmission wires) or in poor weather (heavy rain, snow, etc.). Remain alert to the driving conditions.
There is a risk of accidents.
warning
This function is an additional driving aid. The driver should always be in control of the vehicle, with this system not being a replacement for due care and attention in any way.
The driver should always drive at a speed appropriate for the traffic conditions, irrespective of system warnings.
Under no circumstances should the system be used to detect obstacles or as an anti-collision system.
System repairs/maintenance
- In the event of a collision, the radar may be misaligned. In this case its operation will be affected. Deactivate the function and consult an approved dealer.
- Any work in the area where the sensors are located (such as repairs, replacement, etc.) must be carried out by a qualified professional.
Only an approved dealer is fully certified to carry out system maintenance.
System malfunctions
The system may be affected or damaged by some conditions, such as:
- complex environments (metallic bridges, tunnels, roads with barriers on the sides, etc.);
- poor weather conditions (snow, hail, black ice, etc.).
Risk of false alarms or the absence of such warnings
Speak to your approved dealer if you notice any abnormal behaviour.

System operating limits
- To ensure that the system operates effectively, the area around the radar should be kept clean and not modified in any way.
- Small objects moving close to the vehicle such as motorcycles, bicycles, pedestrians, etc., may not be recognised by the system.
- When the vehicle turns a corner or moves through a bend on the road, the detectors may be temporarily unable to detect vehicles in adjacent lanes.
- The system does not emit a warning when the right-hand and left-hand sensors simultaneously detect vehicles moving at similar speeds (for example, in the case of traffic moving along a three-lane motorway).
- The system may not react when there is a significant difference between the speed of your vehicle and other vehicles.
- If the vehicle is being overtaken by a long vehicle (e.g. a trailer overtaking at a similar speed to the vehicle), the system may stop the warning before the end of the manoeuvre.
- The vehicle is moving along a winding road.
Disabling the feature
You should deactivate the function if:
- the area where the sensor is located has been damaged (rear bumper);
- your vehicle is fitted with a tow bar.
