Renault Koleos

Introduction

As indicated by the arrows 1, the ultrasonic detectors installed in the vehicle bumpers help to find accessible parking spaces and assist the parking manoeuvre.

The system calculates the route to the parking space and controls the vehicle's steering, speed, and gear to slowly maneuver into the selected parking space.

When a vehicle is parallel parked through a Full automatic parking system, the automatic exit function can be used. The driver selects the exit direction while keeping their foot on the brake, and then releases the brake to start the exit process. This system calculates the route and controls the vehicle's steering, speed, and gear to slowly exit the parking space.

Location of the ultrasonic sensors 1

Ensure that the area around the ultrasonic sensors indicated by the arrows 1 is not obscured (by dirt, mud, snow, a badly fitted/attached number plate, etc.), impacted, modified (including paintwork) or obstructed by any accessory fitted to the rear and, depending on the vehicle, to the front or sides of your vehicle.

Make sure the system sensor area is clean. Environmental conditions, such as dirty sensor areas or rain, can affect the system's performance. In the event of an operation abnormality, a related message may appear on the instrument panel.

For safety reasons, carry out any adjustments while the vehicle is stationary.

warning

This function is an additional driving aid.

This system can assist the driver when parking, but it cannot replace the driver. Under no circumstances should it replace the driver's care or responsibility whilst reversing.

Therefore, drivers must pay attention to your surroundings when parking or exiting.

You must control the vehicle's speed with the brake pedal and actively intervene to stop or shut down the system if necessary.

  • The system's ultrasonic sensors may have blind spots. Therefore, the driver should always ensure that there are no small, narrow moving obstacles (such as children, animals, pushchairs, bicycles, stones, posts, etc.) in the blind spot when maneuvering.
  • The system's ultrasonic sensors may not recognize some objects or people wearing clothing that does not reflect the system's signals.
  • Noise from the outside environment can cause interference to the system, and the system's sensors may not identify those objects or people.
  • Before using the system, make sure the parking space is clear of obstacles, such as parking space locks, potholes, stones, and thin posts. The system may not detect these obstacles.
  • If you park in a parallel parking space with the system, your tyres may touch the curb while parking. Pay attention to your surroundings, adjust your vehicle speed, and intervene as needed.
  • The system may not recognize obstacles such as wire mesh, fences, or similar structures. Check the parking space for these obstacles before parking.
  • Pay attention to distance warning prompts when parking. Accidents can occur. If an obstacle is too close, the system's ultrasonic sensor's blind spots can cause the alert to be lost, which is more likely to occur when the detected obstacle is too high or too low.
  • Keep the surface of the system's ultrasonic sensors clean. If they are covered with snow, dirt, mud, etc., clean them to avoid affecting their functionality.
  • Do not wash the wide-angle camera and the system's ultrasonic sensor with a pressure washer. When washing, use a small amount of water and maintain a distance of at least 10 cm.
  • Be aware of your surroundings and pay attention to traffic and pedestrians while using the system.
  • When using the system in parallel parking spaces, ensure that the distance between the vehicle in front and the vehicle behind is at least 1 meter longer than the length of the vehicle. Also, in right-angle parking spaces, the distance between the left and right vehicles must be at least 1 meter wider than the width of the vehicle, otherwise the system may not recognize the parking space.
  • Before using the system, make sure the tyre pressure is normal to avoid affecting functionality.
  • If the floor of the parking space is made of urethane, gravel, or bricks, the system may not recognize the parking space properly.
  • An impact to the underside of the vehicle while manoeuvring (e.g. striking a post, raised kerb or other street furniture) may result in damage to the vehicle (e.g. deformation of an axle).

To avoid any risk of accident, have your vehicle checked by an approved Dealer.

Choice of manoeuvre

The system can perform three types of manoeuvre:

  • parking the vehicle in a parallel or perpendicular parking space;
  • moving out of a parallel parking space.

From the multimedia screen, select the manoeuvre to carry out using the display.

warning

This function is an additional driving aid.

Therefore, it can under no circumstances replace the driver's vigilance and responsibility during manoeuvres (the driver must always be ready to brake).

Parking the vehicle in a parallel or perpendicular parking space

  • When you enable always-on autopark by selecting [My apps] -[Full automatic parking] from the menu on the left side of the center screen, the system automatically determines that you are in a parking situation and enters the parking interface directly.
  • Drive forward in drive mode D to search for a parking space. The system automatically searches for available parking spaces on both sides. If your speed exceeds approximately 27 km/h, the system prompts you to slow down, and the search resumes after you slow down.
  • If a parking space is found, the system displays the found parking space on the screen. If multiple parking spaces are found, the system recommends or selects the best parking space after the vehicle stops.
  • After the vehicle stops, select the Start parking button to begin parking. For horizontal and vertical parking spaces, only rear parking is supported.
  • The system prompts you to release the steering wheel and take your foot off the brake pedal, and auto-parking begins when you release the steering wheel and take your foot off the brake pedal.
  • When autopark is complete, the system displays a completion message

warning

When manoeuvring, the steering wheel may turn quickly: do not put your hands inside and make sure that nothing is caught inside.

Exiting a parallel parking space

When parallel parking with the Autopark feature, if there is another vehicle in front of or behind you in a parallel parking space, you can start exiting by engaging [Full automatic parking], pressing the brake pedal, selecting an exit direction, and selecting [Start].

  • If the driver is able to select the direction of exit, select Right/Left and then press Start to begin exiting.
  • Once Start is pressed and the steering wheel and brake pedal are released, automatic departure begins.
  • exit complete.

Parking Interruptions

In the following situations, the system is interrupted, the interruption information is displayed on the center screen, and [Full automatic parking] is terminated.

The driving assistance system will control the brakes as needed, which may result in an audible brake engagement.

Warning

warning

This system may not function properly due to the surrounding environment or other conditions, and the driver should always check for obstacles.

Since this system is an assistive system for parking, the manufacturer does not warrant any accidents or damage to the vehicle caused by its failure, nor does it warrant any accidents or damage caused by operating the system in a manner inconsistent with this manual.

  • The instructions or the alarms of the parking alarm system are not always correct. Do not rely solely on the instructions and alarms, and use your own judgment after checking for obstacles, curbs, etc. and change forward, reverse, or apply the brakes according to the situation.
  • Even if a parking space appears on the center screen, the driver's intended parking space may be different from the one indicated by the system, requiring constant confirmation from the driver.
  • Always use the brake and drive slowly.
  • When navigating for a parking space, drive at a distance of 50 to 150 centimeters from parked vehicles. If you drive closer than 50 cm or further than 150 cm away, you may not be able to navigate the parking space.
  • If the area around the ultrasonic sensor is icy or dirty, if nearby objects are high or low, if there are poles nearby, or if the parked vehicle is shaped differently, it may not detect the presence of a parking space and may detect a space that is not suitable for parking.
  • Navigated parking spaces must be checked by the driver for parking availability, including any obstacles in the space.
  • Changing tyres or wheels to a size different from the specifications for your vehicle can change parking performance. When making changes, use the same size product.
  • This system does not work properly with vehicles that are experiencing vehicle tilt, such as vehicles that require wheel alignment adjustment. Visit an approved dealer.
  • The system cannot operate if you are too close to the vehicle (or object) in front or behind you when exiting the vehicle.
  • If the area around the ultrasonic sensor is frozen or dirty, if there are tall or low objects, if there are poles nearby, or if the shape of the parked vehicle prevents you from exiting even though there is a space.
  • If the system beeps continuously while you are in the process of exiting or parking, it means that an object is in close proximity to your vehicle. Check your immediate surroundings for obstacles.
  • If you are parked in a tight space, such as close to a wall or roadway curb, the system may disengage for your safety during operation. Check your immediate surroundings for obstacles before exiting.
  • If you are exiting and there is an obstacle in your direction that poses a collision hazard, Exit will disengage for your safety.
  • The system may disengage if it determines that the space is too small during the operation of the Exit feature.
  • The detected space must be used by the driver after checking for obstacles in the parking space, even after detection is complete.
  • Be careful when driving at high speeds as you may collide with neighboring vehicles.
  • If you are close to an obstacle, despite the continuous beeping, the system can no longer measure the distance to the obstacle.

This system is an additional parking aid.

The driver's attention and responsibility are extremely important under all circumstances.

This function is not under any circumstances intended to replace the due care and attention of the driver, who should at all times be in control of the vehicle.

Make sure that the manoeuvre complies with the applicable traffic regulations in your location.

System servicing/repairs

  • In the event of an impact, the operation of the sensors may be affected. Deactivate the function and consult an authorised dealer.
  • Any work in the area where the sensors are located (repairs, replacements, exterior trim modifications, etc.) must be carried out by a qualified professional.
Only an authorised dealer is qualified to service the system.

In the event of system disturbance

Certain conditions may disrupt or impair operation of the system, such as poor weather conditions (snow, hail, ice, etc.).

In the event of the system behaving abnormally, deactivate it and consult an authorised dealer.

Risk of erroneous false alarms.

Limitations of the system operation

  • The system cannot detect objects located in the sensor blind spots.
  • The driver should always be ready for sudden incidents while driving.
  • When driving, you must always pay attention to ensure that the direction of travel of the vehicle is clear of moving obstacles such as children, animals, strollers, or bicycles, or small, narrow, fixed obstacles such as stones and poles.
  • Do not park on ramps, in snowy areas, in tight spaces (such as in a two-way parking environment in a residential neighborhood), on uneven surfaces, behind trucks, around round and small poles, or near walls or road curbs, as the system may not function properly.
  • If you do not follow instructions during feature operation, the system may not operate properly.
  • When manoeuvring, the steering wheel may turn quickly: do not put your hands inside and make sure that nothing is caught inside.
  • An impact to the underside of the vehicle while maneuvering (e.g., striking a post, raised curb, or other street furniture) may result in damage to the vehicle (e.g., deformation of an axle). Since such impacts may not be detected, always check for obstacles between the sidewalk and the roadway to ensure there are no obstructions that could cause damage, such as deformation of the rear suspension.
  • Always look to check that the parking space suggested by the system is actually still available and free from obstacles before and during the entire manoeuvre.
  • The system must not be used when towing a trailer or when there is a towing or load carrying system on the vehicle or on surrounding vehicles.
  • The system cannot detect areas other than those equipped with ultrasonic sensors. Also, be sure to check the center of the ultrasonic sensors, low obstacles, thin obstacles, and blind spots, as they may be difficult to detect.
  • Accidents and damage to the vehicle due to malfunction of this system are not covered.

When parking in a perpendicular parking space with the system, if there is a curb nearby, the tyres may touch the curb while parking. Pay attention to your surroundings, adjust the vehicle speed, and intervene as necessary.

  • When the vehicle's speed reaches approximately 27 km/h or more, the message “Reduce Speed” appears.
  • Full automatic parking shuts off when the vehicle reaches a speed of approximately 30 km/h or more.
  • The system may shut down if there is insufficient space for the vehicle to move.
  • When the system is operating, there may be a shock when you hit a stopper in a parking space.
