For reasons of safety, always us a seatbelt when travelling in the vehicle. You must also comply with the legislation of the particular country you are in.

Before starting, first adjust your driving position, then ask all occupants to adjust their seat belts to ensure optimum protection.

Adjusting your driving position

  • Sit well back in your seat (having removed your coat or jacket etc.). This is essential so that your back is in the right position.
  • Adjust the distance between the seat and the pedals. The seat should be as far back as possible while still allowing you to press the pedals down fully. The seatback should be adjusted so that your arms are slightly bent.
  • adjust the position of your headrest. For maximum safety, your head must be as close as possible to the headrest;
  • Adjust the height of the seat. This adjustment allows you to select the seat position that gives you the best possible view
  • adjust the position of the steering wheel.

The seatbelt is for the use of one person only, whether adult or child.

Adjusting the seat belts

To ensure the correct adjustment and positioning of the seat belts on all seats:

  • adjust the seats (seat position and seatback angle, if possible);
  • sit with your back firmly against the seatback;
  • move the shoulder strap 1 as close as possible to the base of the neck without it actually resting against it (if possible, adjust the height of the seat belt where necessary) and make sure the shoulder strap 1 is in contact with the shoulder;
  • position the lap belt 2 so that it lies flat over the thighs and against the pelvis.

The belt should be worn so that it is as close as possible to your body, For example, avoid wearing heavy clothing or holding objects between you and the belt.

Fastening

Unwind the seat belt slowly and smoothly and ensure that the buckle 3 locks into the catch 5 (pull the buckle to make sure that it is locked in correctly 3).

If the belt jams, allow it to return slightly before attempting to unwind it again.

If your seat belt is completely jammed, pull slowly, but firmly, so that just over 3 cm unwinds. Allow it to return slightly before attempting to unwind it again.

Unlocking

Press the button 4 and the seat belt will be retracted by the inertia reel. Guide the belt.

This is displayed on the central display A when the ignition is switched on and if the driver's seat belt or front passenger's seat belt (if this seat is occupied) is not fastened.

Depending on the vehicle, if the seat is occupied and one of the seat belts is not fastened or it is unfastened while the vehicle is moving at a speed over approximately 12 mph (20 km/h), the 2_ALL_088_1_pictogramme.png warning light flashes and a beep sounds for approximately 120 seconds.

Note: an object placed on the passenger seat may activate the warning light in some cases.

Rear seat belt warning

(depending on the vehicle)

The graphic 6 is displayed on the instrument panel when the ignition is switched on. This always informs the driver if the seat belts of each of the rear seats are fastened or not:

  • when the ignition is switched on;

  • when a door is opened;

  • when a rear seat belt is fastened or unfastened.

Display of graphic 6:

  • indicator light in green: the seat belt is fastened;

  • warning light in red: the seat is occupied and the seat belt is not fastened;

  • indicator light in grey: the seat is not occupied.

Depending on the vehicle, the 2_ALL_088_1_pictogramme.png warning light on the central display also comes on when the ignition is switched on if a rear seat is occupied and the seat belt is not fastened.

When the vehicle speed is below approximately 12 mph (20 km/h), the 2_ALL_088_1_pictogramme.png warning light on the central display will also come on if a rear seat belt is unfastened.

It is accompanied by the symbol 6 which is displayed for approximately 60 seconds each time one of the rear seat belts is fastened or unfastened.

When the vehicle speed reaches or exceeds 12 mph (20 km/h), if one of the rear seat belts is has not been fastened or is unfastened during the journey:

  • the 2_ALL_088_1_pictogramme.png warning light flashes on the central display;

and

  • a beep will sound for 30 to 120 seconds, depending on the vehicle;

and

  • the symbol 6 will be displayed for at least 60 seconds and the symbol for the seat concerned will change to red.

Always make sure that the rear passengers are using their respective seat belts and that the number of seat belts indicated as fastened corresponds to the number of rear seats occupied.

Note: in some cases, alerts may be activated if an object is placed in one of the rear seats, depending on the vehicle.

Adjusting the height of the front seat belts

Move the button 7 to select the adjusting position so that the shoulder strap 1 is worn as described above.

Make sure that the seat belt is locked in position correctly after you have adjusted it.
