Renault Kardian Latam
Windscreen wiper, washer
Vehicle equipped with intermittent front window wiper
- A.
one sweep
A brief pull triggers a single sweep of the wipers.
- B.
stop
- C.
intermittent wiping
The wipers will pause for several seconds between sweeps.
Depending on the vehicle, the interval between sweeps can be changed by rotating the ring 2.
F: minimum sensitivity;
G: maximum sensitivity.
- D.
slow continuous wiping
- E.
fast continuous wiping
Special instructions
While the vehicle is being driven, the wiping speed slows down whenever the vehicle stops. For example, fast wiping speed will slow to normal wiping speed. As soon as the vehicle moves off, wiping will return to the speed originally selected.
If the stalk 1 is operated, the automatic function is cancelled.
Note: when washing the vehicle in a roller-type car wash, return the ring 2 on the stalk 1 to the off position to deactivate the wiper.
Note: after use, remember to return the ring 2 on the stalk 1 to the off position so that the wiping is not inadvertently activated upon the next use.
Windscreen wiper position for servicing.
This position allows the blades to be removed from the windscreen.
This can be useful when:
- cleaning the blades;
- releasing the blades in the winter;
- replacing the blades Windscreen wiper blades: replacement.
With the ignition on and the engine running, lift the stalk 1 twice to position A (single sweep). The blades stop away from the bonnet.
To set the wiper blades to the lowered position, with the ignition on, ensure that the wipers are folded down against the windscreen and move the stalk 1 to position A (single sweep).
Before switching on the ignition, put the blades back on the windscreen. If you fail to do this, there is a risk of damaging the bonnet or the blades when they are triggered.
warning
Before doing anything involving the windscreen (washing the vehicle, de-icing, cleaning the windscreen, etc.), return the stalk 1 to position B (off).
Risk of injury and/or damage.
tip
If the windscreen is obstructed (by dirt, snow, ice, etc.), clean it (including the area in front of the internal rear view mirror) before triggering the windscreen wipers, as there is a risk of the motor overheating.
If there is an object stopping the wiper blade from moving, it may stop operating. Remove the obstacle and trigger the wiper using the stalk.
Windscreen wiper
With the ignition on, pull the lever 1 and then release it.
A longer pull will trigger the windscreen washer, followed by two sweeps of the wipers and, a few seconds later, a third sweep.
Note: when the temperature is below zero, there is a risk that the washer fluid will freeze on the windscreen, reducing visibility. Heat the windscreen with the demister before using the wipers.
warning
When working in the engine compartment, ensure that the windscreen wiper stalk is in position B (park).
Risk of injury.
tip
Efficiency of a wiper blade
Keep an eye on the condition of the blades. How long they will last depends on the conditions of use:
- they should be kept clean: clean the blades and the windscreen regularly with soap and water;
- do not use them when the windscreen is dry;
- pull them away from the windscreen when they have not been used for a long time.
In all situations, replace them as soon as they start to become less effective: approximately once a year Windscreen wiper blades: replacement.
Precautions when using the wipers
- In freezing or snowy weather, clear the windscreen before starting the wipers (risk of the motor overheating);
- check that the path of the blades is not obstructed.
Rear screen washer, wiper
Rear screen wiper
-
With the ignition on, turn the ring 3 on the stalk 1 until the symbol is aligned with the reference mark 2 :
- off;
- intermittent wiping;
The wipers will pause for several seconds between sweeps. Wiping frequency varies with vehicle speed.
- slow continuous wiping.
To stop the operation, turn the ring 3 again.
Note: when washing the vehicle in a roller-type car wash, return the ring 3 on the stalk 1 to the off position to deactivate the wiper.
Note: after use, remember to return the ring 3 on the stalk 1 to the off position so that the wiping is not inadvertently activated upon the next use.
tip
Do not use the wiper arm to open or close the tailgate.
warning
Before doing anything which affects the rear screen (washing the vehicle, de-icing, cleaning, etc.) return the stalk 1 to the off position.
Risk of injury and/or damage.

Activation/deactivation of the rear screen wiper
Engaging reverse gear triggers intermittent wiping (if the front wipers are working). If your vehicle is equipped with a vehicle settings configuration menu, you can activate or deactivate this function.
For vehicles not equipped with a settings customisation menu, you may choose to have this function deactivated by an approved dealer.
If there is anything obstructing the rear window (dirt, snow, etc.), the wiper will try and remove it. The wiper may stop if something is impeding it.
Remove the obstacle, wait about 30 seconds then reactivate the wiper again using the stalk.
Precautions
- In icy weather, check that the wiper blades are not stuck to the windscreen before activating the wipers. If you activate the wiper while the blade is stuck because of ice, there is a danger of damaging the blade and the wiper motor.
- Do not use the wipers on a dry windscreen. This will cause premature wear or damage to the blades.
Rear screen wiper/washer
-
With the ignition switched on, pull and hold the stalk 1 towards you then release it.
Hold the stalk longer to activate (in addition to the screen washer) two sweeps of the wipers followed by a third a few seconds later.
When the stalk is released, it returns to the rear screen wiper position.
