To avoid all risk of sparks
- Ensure that the 'energy consumers' (ceiling lights, etc.) are switched off before disconnecting or reconnecting a 12 V battery;
- When charging, switch off the charger before connecting or disconnecting the 12 V battery;
- Do not place any metal objects on the 12 V battery as this may create a short circuit across the terminals;
- Wait for at least five minutes after switching off the engine before disconnecting the 12 V battery;
- Make sure that you reconnect the 12 V battery terminals after refitting.
warning
Special procedures may be required to charge some 12 V batteries. Contact your approved dealer.
Avoid all risk of sparks which may cause an immediate explosion, and charge the 12 V battery in a well ventilated area.
Risk of serious injury.
warning
Handle the 12 V battery with care as it contains sulphuric acid which must not come into contact with the eyes or skin. If it does, wash the affected area with plenty of cold water. If necessary, consult a doctor.
Keep any flames, red hot objects or sparks away from the 12 V battery components (risk of explosion).
Please note when working close to the engine that it may be hot.
The engine cooling fan may also start at any moment.
Risk of injury.
Starting the vehicle using the battery from another vehicle
When the 12 V battery is dead, you can jump-start your vehicle by connecting a cable from another vehicle's 12 V battery or an auxiliary battery (charger). When jump starting, be sure to have a professional perform the following steps.
- If using a power bank (charger), be sure to use a 12 V specification.
- If you're connecting a battery from another vehicle
warning
Before carrying out any action in the engine compartment, you must switch off the ignition. Starting, stopping the engine
Do not use your hybrid vehicle to restart a 12 V battery in another vehicle.
The electrical power in the 12 V battery of a hybrid vehicle is not sufficient for this operation. Risk of damage to the vehicle.
warning
It is forbidden to disconnect the positive cable in the engine compartment.
Risk of the engine starting inadvertently.
Risk of burns by projection of sparks.
For combustion engine vehicles
- Open the 12 V battery terminal (+) cover A.
- Connect the positive (+) cable B to the positive (+) terminal 1 inside Cover A, and the other to the positive (+) terminal 4 of the 12 V battery supplying the current.
- Connect the negative (-) cable C to the negative (-) terminal 3 of the 12 V battery supplying the current first, and then to the negative (-) terminal 2 of the discharged 12 V battery.
- Start the other vehicle, wait a few minutes, and then start the discharged vehicle.
- Press the start button and, as soon as the ignition is switched on, disconnect cables B and C in the reverse order (2 - 3 - 4 - 1).
For hybrid vehicles
- Open the 12 V battery terminal (+) cover D.
- Connect the positive (+) cable B to the positive (+) terminal 5 and the other to the positive (+) terminal 4 of the 12 V battery that is supplying the current.
- Connect the negative (-) cable C first to the negative (-) terminal 3 of the 12 V battery supplying the current, and then to the negative (-) terminal 6 of the discharged 12 V battery.
- Start the other vehicle, wait a few minutes, and then start the discharged vehicle.
- Press the start button and, as soon as the ignition is switched on, disconnect cables B and C in the reverse order (6 - 3 - 4 - 5).
warning
Ensure that there is no contact between cables B and C and that positive cable B is not in contact with any metallic component in the vehicle supplying the current.
Risk of injury and/or damage to the vehicle.
warning
Do not carry out any work under the bonnet while the vehicle is charging or while the ignition is switched on. Starting, stopping the engine
