Renault Koleos
For your safety, always wear your seat belt when travelling in your vehicle. You must also comply with the legislation of the particular country you are in.
Before starting, first adjust your driving position, then ask all occupants to adjust their seat belts to ensure optimum protection.
■ Adjusting your driving position
- Sit well back in your seat (having removed your coat or jacket, etc.). This is essential to ensure that your back is positioned correctly;
- adjust the distance between the seat and the pedals. Your seat should be as far back as possible while still allowing you to fully depress the pedals. The seatback should be adjusted so that your arms are slightly bent when you hold the steering wheel;
- adjust the position of your headrest. For maximum safety, your head should be as close as possible to the headrest, and the top of the headrest should align with the top of your head.
- adjust the height of the seat. This adjustment allows you to select the seat position which offers you the best possible view;
- adjust the position of the steering wheel.
warning
Incorrectly adjusted or twisted seat belts may cause injuries in the event of an accident.
Use one seat belt per person, whether child or adult.
If you are pregnant or have a medical condition, please wear a seat belt for safety in case of emergencies. However, since there is a risk of strong pressure on the abdomen, consult with a doctor regarding your ability to drive and how to wear the seat belt.
For pregnant individuals, the lap belt should be positioned below the abdomen and as low as possible on the hips. The shoulder belt should securely pass over the shoulder and avoid the abdomen, resting across the chest.
warning
Warning about child use of 3-point seat belts
Even if a child is too large to use a child safety seat designed for infants, they must still use a booster seat and the vehicle's seat belt.
If the child is not using a booster seat and the shoulder belt of the 3-point seat belt touches the child's neck or face while driving, it can lead to serious injury to the child in the event of a sudden stop or collision.General information
■ Adjusting the seat belt
To ensure the correct adjustment and positioning of the seat belts on all seats:
- adjust the seats (seat position and seatback angle, if available);
- sit with your back firmly against the seatback;
- move the shoulder strap 1 as close as possible to the base of the neck without it actually resting against it (if necessary, adjust the height of the seat belt if available) and make sure that the chest strap 1 is in contact with the shoulder;
- position the lap belt 2 so that it lies flat on the thighs and against the pelvis.
The seat belt must be worn as close to the body as possible.
e.g. avoid wearing heavy clothing, keeping bulky objects under the belts, etc.
■ Locking
Unwind the belt slowly and smoothly and ensure that the buckle 3 locks into the catch 5 (check that it is locked by pulling on the buckle 3).
If the belt jams, allow it to return slightly before attempting to unwind it again.
If your seat belt is completely jammed, pull slowly, but firmly, so that just over 3 cm unwinds. Allow it to return slightly before attempting to unwind it again.
If there is still a problem, contact an approved dealer.
■ Unlocking
Press the button 4 and the seat belt will be rewound by the inertia reel. Guide the belt.
Seat belt reminder warning lights
The warning lights for seat belt non-use on the dashboard illuminate in various states, and the specific seats where the seat belts are not fastened are displayed.
▶ Front seat belt reminder
When the vehicle is in the ignition-on state and the driver's or front passenger's seat belt is not fastened, the warning light illuminates. If the vehicle speed exceeds approximately 10 km/h or the forward distance exceeds about 300 m, the warning light will start to flash along with a warning sound. If the seat belt is unfastened while the vehicle is moving at a speed of over 10 km/h, the warning light will also flash with a warning sound. The warning light will not turn off until the seat belt is fastened, and the warning sound will cease once the seat belt is secured.
▶ Rear seat belt reminder
If the rear seat belts are not fastened while the vehicle is on, the rear seat belt warning will start an initial notification for approximately 60 seconds and the rear seat will be displayed with a red seat belt icon and warning light on the instrument panel. When the initial notification is over, the warning light will turn off and the seat belt icon will turn gray. When the vehicle is moving forward at over 10 km/h, if the rear seat belt is released, the warning light will flash with a warning sound until the seat belt is refastened.
If the vehicle speed decreases to under 10 km/h with the seat belt released and then drives over 10 km/h again, the warning sound will sound again. If the seat belt that was released is fastened (in the same seat), the warning sound and warning light will disappear.
To reset the seat belt warning light, turn off the vehicle ignition or stop the vehicle with the ignition on (vehicle speed 0 km/h) and open the door.
Fastening the seat belt correctly can reduce the risk of injury in emergency braking and traffic accidents. Therefore, all occupants must always fasten their seat belts properly while the vehicle is in motion and pay attention to the warning lights on the instrument panel. Failure to do so may result in serious personal injury or property damage.
Make sure the rear seats are properly fastened to ensure that the rear seat belts function properly Rear seats: functions.
warning
Check that the rear seat belts are positioned and operating correctly each time the rear bench seat is moved.
warning
- No modification must be made to the originally-fitted restraint system components (seat belts, seats and their mountings). For special operations (e.g. fitting child seats) please contact an approved dealer.
- Do not use devices which give any slack in the belts (e.g. clothes pegs, clips, etc.), as a seat belt which is worn too loosely risks causing injury in the event of an accident. Additionally, in the event of an accident, the seat belt may not function properly.
- Never wear the shoulder strap under your arm or behind your back.
- Never use the same belt for more than one person and never hold a baby or child on your lap with your seat belt around them.
- The belt should never be twisted.
- Following an accident, have the seat belts checked and replaced if necessary. Always replace your seat belts as soon as they show any signs of wear.
- When the rear bench seat is being put back, make sure that the seat belts and buckles are correctly positioned so that they can be used properly.
- Ensure that the seat belt buckle is properly inserted into the appropriate catch, and do not use any devices that block the seat belt warning sound.
- Ensure that no objects are placed in the area around the seat belt catch as they could prevent it from being properly secured.
- Make sure the seat belt catch is properly positioned (it should not be hidden away, crushed or flattened by people or objects).
- For small children who cannot wear the seat belt properly, such as those whose belts touch their necks or faces, please use a child safety seat. Additionally, for infants who cannot sit up on their own, use a cradle-type safety seat.
- Do not drive with the seat back reclined. This can prevent the seat belt from functioning effectively, increasing the risk of your body slipping under the seat belt or sustaining serious injuries in the event of a collision.
- Even if you are pregnant or have a medical condition, wear a seat belt just in case. However, since there is a risk of strong pressure on the abdomen, consult your doctor about whether you can drive and how to wear the seat belt. If you are pregnant, wear the waist belt so that it avoids the abdomen and is as low on the waist as possible. Wear the shoulder belt so that it passes securely over the shoulder and hangs on the chest, avoiding the abdomen.
