■ Tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS)

When fitted to the vehicle, this system notifies the driver if one or more tyres lose pressure.

■ Operating principle

The system (TPMS) wirelessly senses the pressure in each tyre.

Warning light comes on steady to alert the driver in the event of insufficient pressure (deflated wheel, punctured tyre, etc.).

warning

This function is an additional driving aid, do not rely on the system as a substitute.

The function does not replace the driver, and the driver must always pay attention to the condition of the tyres.

It cannot, therefore, under any circumstances replace the vigilance or the responsibility of the driver.

Check the tyre pressures, including the emergency spare wheel, once a month.

If there is a malfunction in the system, please have it checked at an authorized service center immediately.

■ Operating conditions

This system (TPMS) measures the current tyre pressure after driving the vehicle at a speed of over 30 km/h for a certain period of time and displays the pressure on the instrument panel. The pressure shown immediately after starting the vehicle, following a parking period of more than 20 minutes, reflects the pressure before parking. When driving at a speed of over 30 km/h, the tyre pressure is updated to the latest reading and displayed on the instrument panel.

If the TPMS status light is always on, it indicates that one or more tyres are receiving abnormal tyre pressure. At this point, you should park the vehicle as soon as possible, check the tyre pressure, and fill the tyres to the correct pressure. The cold tyre pressure is indicated on the vehicle's tyre pressure label. Tyre pressure

Your vehicle's tyre pressure monitoring system can alert you to abnormal tyre pressures, but it is not a substitute for normal tyre maintenance. If the TPMS status light comes on, immediately reduce your speed and avoid sharp turns and hard braking. Pull off the road as soon as possible to a safe stop and check your tyres and tyre pressure.

In the following situations, the system risks coming into action late or not functioning correctly:

  • Certain driving conditions (such as Sport mode, winter or soft roads);
  • system not reset after reinflation or any operation on the wheels;
  • If the sensors are not installed after all four tyres are replaced with snow tyres when the vehicle is driven in winter.
warning

The sudden loss of pressure in a tyre (burst tyre, etc.) cannot be immediately detected by the system.

In certain cases, the related message and the TMPS light appears on the instrumental panel if:

  • metalic films are attached on the windshield
  • in area where strong electromagnetic waves are generated such as police stations, broadcast stations, military facilities or transmitting towers
  • electric accessories are being used such as laptop, mobile phone, charger, navigation, air purifier, remote start device, wireless communication device

The system may work if the condition is released.

■ Readjustment of tyre pressures

The pressure of the four tyres must be set when cold (refer to the label located on the edge of the driver's door).

If tyre pressures cannot be checked when the tyres are cold, the recommended pressures should be increased by 0.2 to 0.3 bar (3 PSI).

Never deflate a hot tyre.

■ Replacing wheels/tyres

Only use equipment approved by the brand network; otherwise, there is a risk of the system being activated late or not working correctly. Tyres

After each change of wheel/tyre, readjust the tyre pressure and launch the reset of the tyre pressure reference value.
