■ Manually releasing the electronic parking brake

Press the brake pedal when the vehicle's START/STOP button is in mode II or when the vehicle is in the started state.

Pressing the e-parking brake lever releases the e-parking brake and the e-parking brake indicator on the instrument panel extinguishes .

■ Automatic release of electronic parking brake

With the vehicle started, seat belts fastened, and the electronic parking brake engaged, the gear lever is in the drive position and the accelerator pedal is lightly pressed, the electronic parking brake automatically disengages and the electronic parking brake indicator on the instrument panel turns off.

■ Manual operation of electronic parking brake

Pulling the electronic parking brake lever upward while the vehicle is stopped completes the manual operation and illuminates the electronic parking brake indicator on the instrument panel.

If the indicator does not light, contact an authorized workshop as soon as possible.

■ Setting automatic operation

Swipe down from the top left of the central screen to select [Control Center], then you can enable or disable the [Automatic Operation Parking Brake] feature. Multimedia equipment

To prevent the electronic parking brake from automatically applying when the vehicle's engine is stopped, do the following with the [Auto-Actuate Parking Brake in Neutral] feature turned off

  • Shift the shift stalk to the N position.
  • Make sure that auto hold is not controlling the vehicle (indicator light is off).
  • If the auto hold indicator is illuminated, release the brake pedal and press it again deeply enough to releaseauto hold, or disable the auto hold feature from the control center on the center screen.
  • Press and hold the vehicle START/STOP button to stop the engine.

Even if you disable the [Parking Brake Automatically Activated in Neutral] feature, the electronic parking brake automatically engages when you turn off the ignition while Auto Hold is controlling the vehicle (indicator light on the instrument panel).

Parking will not be released if the driver's seat belt is not fastened.

■ Operating faults

If the electronic parking brake indicator flashes on the instrument panel, there is a malfunction in the system. Contact an authorized service center.

Before exiting the vehicle, make sure the parking brake is engaged. The indicator light on the instrument panel illuminates to show that the parking brake is engaged.

Do not stop with the gear lever not in P. If you are stopped with the engine running and the gear lever engaged, you may accidentally accelerate the vehicle. This could cause an accident.

If the indicator lights and warning sounds do not function properly, something is wrong with the instrument panel. Immediately park the vehicle safely, make sure it is properly secured, and contact an authorized service center.

If the incline is steep, keep the gear lever in P and use a brace to secure the vehicle.

If you experience unintentional acceleration while driving, take your foot off the pedal and press the brake pedal firmly with both feet. If the vehicle does not slow down when the brake pedal is depressed, quickly apply the electronic parking brake (pull and hold the electronic parking brake lever 1 until the vehicle comes to a stop).
