Renault Boreal
The speed limiter function controls the motor to help you not exceed the driving speed you have chosen, known as the speed limit.
The speed limiter function can be activated from 0 to 110 mph.
Controls
- 1
Switch to select/deselect driving aids, depending on the vehicle:
- speed limiter
- Adaptive cruise control;
- Active driver assist;
- OFF.
- 2
Put the function on standby (and store the cruising speed) (0).
- 3
Recover the stored limited speed (RES).
- 4
Enable and decrease the speed limit (SET/˗) or memorise the current speed.
- 5
Enable and increase the speed limit (SET/+) or memorise the current speed.
- 6
Contextual menu button (depending on the vehicle): adapts the reference speed to the detected speed limits
.
tip
When the "OFF" mode is selected before the ignition is switched off, the "Speed Limiter" function will be activated by default the next time the engine is started.
tip
You can link the speed limiter to the "Traffic Sign Detection" function.
Driving
When a limit speed has been set but has not yet been reached, driving the vehicle is the same as when driving a vehicle without a speed limiter function.
Once you have reached the stored speed, no effort on the accelerator pedal will allow you to exceed the programmed speed except in an emergency.
Switching on
Press switch 1 until the light
goes on in grey on the instrument panel. The "Speed limiter ON" message is displayed on the instrument panel accompanied by dashes to indicate that the speed limiter function is enabled and waiting to store a speed limit.
To store the current speed, press switch 5 (SET/+) or switch 4 (SET/˗): the speed limit replaces the dashes and, depending on the vehicle, the
warning light is displayed in white.
The minimum speed that can be stored is 18 mph (30 km/h).
warning
Note that you should keep your feet close to the pedals so that you can react in an emergency.
Varying the limit speed
The speed limit can be modified by repeatedly pressing or by pressing and holding:
- switch 5 (SET/+) to increase the speed;
- switch 4 (SET/˗) to reduce the speed.
warning
The speed limiter function is in no way linked to the braking system.
Exceeding the limit speed
It is possible to exceed the limited speed at any moment. To do this, press the accelerator pedal, firmly and fully, beyond the point of resistance.
While the speed is being exceeded, the programmed speed displayed on the instrument panel flashes.
Then, when possible, release the accelerator pedal: the speed limiter function will resume as soon as you reach a speed lower than the stored speed.
Note: Depending on the vehicle, it is also possible to exceed the speed limit by pressing the accelerator pedal to a position close to the "point of resistance". In this case, a beep is emitted, in addition to the alert displayed on the instrument panel.
warning
If the speed limiter is no longer available after various attempts to activate it, speak to an Approved Dealer.
Putting the function on standby
The speed limiter function is disabled when you press switch 2 (O). The limit speed is stored and displayed in grey on the instrument panel.
Recalling the limit speed
If a speed is stored, it can be recalled by pressing switch 3.
tip
When the speed limiter is on standby, press switch 4 (SET/˗) or switch 5 (SET/+) to reactivate the function without taking into account the stored speed: the current speed of the vehicle will be taken into account.
Switching off the function
The speed limiter function is disabled when you press switch 1. In this case, there is no longer any stored speed.
The instrument panel warning light
goes out to confirm that the function has been disabled.
tip
To exit driving assistance, press switch 1 as many times as necessary until it reaches the position OFF. The "Driving assist. deactivated" message will be displayed on the instrument panel.
In this case, the next time the engine is started, the "Speed Limiter" function will be enabled and waiting for a speed limit to be stored.
