The following advice will enable you to carry out quick and temporary repairs. For safety reasons, always contact an approved dealer as soon as possible.

Using the card

POSSIBLE CAUSES

WHAT TO DO

The card does not lock or unlock the doors.

The card battery is weak.

Replace battery. You will still be able to lock/unlock and start the vehicle "Hands-free" card: batteryIgnition switch.

Use of devices operating on the same frequency as the card (mobile phone, etc.).

Disconnect the devices or use the built-in key Locking, unlocking the opening elements and doors.

Vehicle located in a high electromagnetic radiation zone.

Vehicle battery flat.

Use the key built into the card Locking, unlocking the opening elements and doors.

The "Place card on zone + START" message appears on the instrument panel.

Place the card on the Ignition switch symbol and press the start button.

The engine is running.

It is not possible to lock/unlock using the card when the engine is running. Switch off the ignition.

Card desynchronised.

Unlock the driver's door by inserting the card's built-in key into the Locking, unlocking the opening elements and doors door lock and then place the card over the Ignition switch symbol and press the start button to synchronise the card.

The starter is activated

POSSIBLE CAUSES

WHAT TO DO

The warning lights on the instrument panel are dim or do not light up and the engine does not start.

Battery terminals are loose, disconnected or oxidised.

Retighten or reconnect the terminals, or clean them if they are oxidised.

Discharged battery or not operational.

Connect the battery to the defective battery, or replace the battery Battery: breakdown recovery, if necessary.

Do not tow the vehicle if the steering column is locked.

Faulty circuit.

consult an approved dealer.

The engine will not start.

Starting conditions are not fulfilled.

Refer to the Running inIgnition switch section.

The "hands-free" card does not work.

Ignition switch.

With the vehicle stationary and the engine cold, the idle speed is high.

In the petrol version, this does not necessarily indicate a fault. It may be caused by an increase in engine temperature.

The engine's idle speed should slow down after about one minute. If it does not, it may be caused by another fault. consult an approved dealer.

The engine cannot be switched off.

Card not detected.

Place the card on the Ignition switch symbol and press the start button.

Electronic fault.

Press the start button quickly five times.

The steering column remains locked.

Steering wheel locked.

Move the steering wheel and press the start button (or, depending on the vehicle, turn the ignition key) Ignition switch.

Faulty electrical circuit.

consult an approved dealer.

On the road

POSSIBLE CAUSES

WHAT TO DO

Vibrations.

Tyres not inflated to correct pressures, incorrectly balanced or damaged.

Check the tyre pressures. If this is not the problem, check the condition at an approved dealer.

White smoke from the exhaust.

In the petrol version, this does not necessarily indicate a fault. Depending on the weather conditions (cold, damp, etc.), smoke may be produced when accelerating hard.

Reduce the revs and avoid accelerating sharply so that the smoke gradually disappears. If it does not, it may be caused by another fault. consult an approved dealer.

Smoke under the bonnet.

Short-circuit or cooling system leak.

Stop, switch off the ignition and move away from the vehicle. Please contact an authorised dealer.

The oil pressure warning light comes on:

while cornering or braking

The level is too low.

Top up the engine oil level Engine oil.

is slow to go out or remains lit under acceleration

Loss of oil pressure

Stop the vehicle and contact an approved dealer.

Steering becomes heavy.

Assistance overheating.

Fault in the auxiliary electric motor.

Fault in the auxiliary system.

Drive carefully at low speed and pay attention to the amount of force required on the steering wheel to steer the vehicle. consult an approved dealer.

The engine is overheating. The coolant temperature gauge is in the warning zone and the 1_ALL_040_1_pictogramme.png warning light appears.

Engine cooling fan not working.

Stop the vehicle and switch off the engine. Please contact an authorised dealer.

Coolant leaks.

Check the coolant reservoir: it should contain coolant. If there is no coolant, consult an approved dealer as soon as possible.

Coolant boiling in the coolant reservoir.

Mechanical fault: damaged cylinder head gasket.

Stop the engine.

Please contact an authorised dealer.

Radiator: in the event of a significant lack of coolant, remember that cold coolant must never be added while the engine is very hot. After any procedure on the vehicle which has involved even partial draining of the cooling system, it must be refilled with a new mixture prepared in the correct proportions. Reminder: only products approved by our Technical Department may be used for this purpose.

Electrical equipment

The wipers do not work.

Wiper blades stuck.

Separate the wiper blades from the windscreen before using them.

Faulty electrical circuit.

Fuse blown.

Replace the fuse or have someone else replace it Fuses.

The wiper does not stop.

Faulty electrical controls.

consult an approved dealer.

Direction indicators flashing more quickly.

Faulty rear light.

Exterior lighting

The indicators are not working.

Faulty electrical circuit or control.

consult an approved dealer.

Fuse blown.

Replace the fuse or have someone else replace it Fuses.

The lights do not come on or go off.

Faulty electrical circuit or control.

consult an approved dealer.

Fuse blown.

Replace the fuse or have someone else replace it Fuses.

Signs of condensation on the headlights or rear lights.

Condensation can occur because of natural changes in temperature and humidity.

In this situation, the traces of condensation will gradually disappear once the lights are switched on.

The reminder warning light for the front seat belts lights up when the belts are connected.

An object is stuck between the floor and the seat and is obstructing the operation of the sensor.

Remove all objects from under the front seats.
