Updating the multimedia system without maps
In the case of vehicles not fitted with a navigation system, please consult an approved dealer.
Update your multimedia system and map
Note: check if your systems are already up to date to avoid starting a procedure unnecessarily.
To update your multimedia system and its maps, you will need a USB flash drive and a computer connected to the Internet.
Use your computer to download updates from the Internet to the USB flash drive, then install the updates from the USB flash drive on your vehicle's multimedia system.
If the multimedia system software is not up to date, the Toolbox software will offer a system update before the map is updated. The system and map cannot be updated at the same time. The process must be repeated for each update.
You will need to proceed as follows:
- saving the system on a USB key;
- install the Toolbox software on your computer;
- downloading products from the Toolbox to the USB key;
- Updating the multimedia system or map from the USB flash drive.
Follow the steps described below in sequence.
Saving the system on a USB key
To save your multimedia system in your user profile, first connect an empty USB flash drive to the multimedia system to create a multimedia system imprint on the USB flash drive.
Note:
- to insert the USB flash drive into your multimedia system The navigation system;
- the USB flash drive is not provided with the system;
- the USB flash drive in use must be FAT32 and formatted and have a minimum capacity of 4 GB and a maximum capacity of 32 GB;
- to save the system data to the USB flash drive, start the vehicle and do not switch off the engine while the data are loading;
- Do not use any of the multimedia system functions during the procedure.
tip
System updates must be performed while the engine is running. Electric vehicles must be charging or with the engine running (READY warning light on).
To save the system imprint to the USB flash drive, you must:
- plug your USB flash drive into the USB socket on your multimedia system;
- from the main menu, select the Navigation menu;
- select the "Options" menu;
- select the "Map update " menu from the second page of the "Options" menu;
- press the "Options" button at the bottom of the screen;
- select the "Update" function on your multimedia system screen.
This installs an imprint of your navigation system on the USB key which will be used by the Toolbox to save your system in your user profile and to let the Toolbox determine which updates are available for your navigation system.
When the process of data recording is finished, you may remove the USB key from the multimedia system.
