Even when the battery is flat, you can still lock/unlock and start your vehicle If the remote control or, depending on the vehicle, the card does not work.
The card can be used for:
- locking/unlocking the doors and luggage compartment;
- remote engine starting Startup ignition, vehicle with card.
Range
Make sure that the correct battery type is being used, and that the battery is in good condition and inserted correctly. Its service life is approximately two years: it must be substituted when the "Card battery low" message appears on the instrument panel "Hands-free" card: battery.

Press button 4 to activate remote engine starting Remote engine start-up.
card operating range
This varies according to the area around the vehicle: take care not to lock or unlock the doors by inadvertently pressing the buttons on the card.
Note: if an opening element (door or luggage compartment lid) is open or incorrectly closed, locking will not be successful and a beep will sound.
Interference
Interference by factors in the immediate vicinity (external installations or the use of equipment operating on the same frequency as the card) may affect the card's operation.
tip
Recommendations
Avoid leaving the card in hot, cold or humid areas.
Do not keep the card in a place where it could be bent or damaged accidentally, such as in the back pocket of a garment.
tip
Replacement: need for an additional card
If you lose your card or require another, you can only obtain one from an Approved Dealer.
If a card is replaced, it will be necessary to take the vehicle and all of its cards to an approved Dealer to initialise the system.
Up to four cards per vehicle can be used.
Fitting a hand strap 7
Slide the rear casing 5 downwards while pressing zone A.
tip
Never insert a screwdriver-type tool into the opening 6.
Insert the hand strap into component 8 and thread the end of the strap through the loop.
Position the hand strap in opening 6 and close the casing.
Note: check that the hand strap cord 7 fits into the opening 6.

Driver’s responsibility when parking or stopping the vehicle
When leaving the vehicle, never leave children, a dependent adult or animals alone inside it, even for a short time.
They may pose a risk to themselves or to others by starting the engine, activating equipment such as the electric windows or by locking the doors.
Also, in hot and/or sunny weather, please remember that the temperature inside the passenger compartment increases very quickly.

Use
There are two ways to lock/unlock the vehicle:
- "hands-free", when approaching and moving away from the vehicle;
- using the card as a remote control.
tip
Do not leave the card in places where it might come into contact with other electronic equipment (computers, phones, etc.) as this could affect its operation.
Deactivating/activating "hands-free" mode
Depending on the vehicle, you can deactivate/activate unlocking when approaching and locking when moving away from the vehicle.
You can also deactivate/activate the beep emitted when locking or when moving away from the vehicle Vehicle settings customisation menu.
Using the "hands-free" card
In "hands-free" mode you can lock/unlock the vehicle without using the buttons on the card, provided you are within the access zone 4.
Note: if the vehicle has not been used for more than eight days, the "hands-free" system changes to standby. To reactivate it, press the unlock button on the card.
Hands-free unlocking when approaching the vehicle
With the card in the access zone 4, the vehicle will be unlocked.
The hazard warning lights and indicator lights flash once to indicate unlocking.
Remote hands-free locking
When you have the card with you, the vehicle will lock automatically once you have left the access zone 4, as long as the doors and the luggage compartment door are closed.
Note: the locking distance depends on the area surrounding the vehicle.
The direction indicator lights and the warning lights flash twice to indicate that the doors are locked.
Unlocking is confirmed by a beep.
Special features of the unlocking system
After eight days without use, approach unlocking is deactivated.
Use the card as a remote control to unlock the vehicle and reactivate "hands-free" mode.
Locking system special features
If a door is open or not fully closed, the vehicle will not lock when you move away from it.
Special features related to "hands-free" locking
After locking in hands-free mode, you will have to wait approximately three seconds before you can unlock the vehicle. During these three seconds, the door handles can be checked to ensure that the vehicle is properly locked.
If the card remains in the detection zone 4 for approximately 15 minutes, remote locking is deactivated. To lock the vehicle, press the button 2 on the card.
The vehicle will not be locked if a card is present in zone 5. If you unlock the vehicle by pressing the card button but do not open the doors or luggage compartment lid, "hands-free" remote locking is deactivated.

Using the card as a remote control.
Unlocking using the card
Press the button 1.
The hazard warning lights and side repeaters flash once to indicate unlocking.
If an attempt is made to open a door using the handle at the same time as the doors are unlocked remotely, the door concerned will remain locked. To resolve this, release the handle and pull again.
Locking with the card
With the doors and luggage compartment door closed, press button 2. The vehicle will be locked. The hazard warning lights and side repeaters flash twice to indicate that the vehicle is locked.
By double pressing the locking button, 2, all windows close automatically.
Note: the maximum locking distance depends on the area around the vehicle.
Special instructions
The vehicle cannot be locked if one of the opening elements (door or luggage compartment door) is open or incorrectly closed: a beep will sound.
tip
The card buttons are deactivated when the engine is running.
With the engine running, if a door has been opened then closed and the card in no longer in zone 5, the "Card not detected" message appears to indicate that the card is no longer inside the vehicle. This will prevent you from driving away after dropping off a passenger who has taken the card with them, for example.
The warning disappears when the card is detected again.
Unlocking the luggage compartment only
Press and hold button 3. The luggage compartment door will open slightly.

"Hands-free" card: battery
Operating Faults
Even if the battery is too weak to ensure correct operation, you will still be able to start and lock/unlock the vehicle If the remote control or, depending on the vehicle, the card does not work.
tip
The batteries are available from approved Dealers, and their service life approximately two years. Check that there is no dye on the battery: risk of an incorrect electrical contact.
warning
When changing:
- ensure that the batteries have been inserted correctly.
Risk of explosion.
- if the cover does not close properly, do not use it and keep it out of the reach of children.
warning
When the battery needs to be replaced, be sure to use the same or an equivalent type (consult an approved dealer).
Replacing the battery
When the message "Card battery low" appears on the instrument panel, change the card battery:
- Slide the rear casing 1 downwards while pressing zone A;
- Remove the battery cover 2;
- remove the battery by pressing down on one side and lifting the other;
- replace according to the directions and design shown inside the cover.
When putting it back together, proceed in the reverse order and then press one of the buttons on the card four times while you are close to the vehicle: the message will disappear.
Check that the cover is clipped shut.
Note : do not touch the electronic circuit or the contacts located on the card when replacing the battery.

Warnings related to batteries:
- keep all batteries (whether new or used) out of the reach of children;
- do not swallow the batteries;
Risk of chemical burns that could be life-threatening.
- If a battery is swallowed or inserted into any part of the body, see a doctor as soon as possible.
tip
Do not throw away your used batteries; give them to an organisation responsible for collecting and recycling batteries.
