■ Adjusting steering wheel height and depth

Lower the lever 1 and set the steering wheel to the required position. Then, raise the lever fully, beyond the point of resistance to lock the steering wheel.

Caution: Do not press the steering wheel with strong force when adjusting the depth. The steering wheel fixing bracket may be damaged.

warning

If you have adjusted the position of the steering wheel, always check that the steering wheel is properly secured before driving.

warning

For safety reasons, only adjust the steering wheel when the vehicle is stationary. Adjusting the wheel position while driving can result in loss of steering ability, which can lead to a serious accident.

warning

When pulling lever 1, hold the steering wheel with one hand and pull lever 1.

Otherwise, your fingers may get caught between the lever and the steering wheel, causing injury.

■ Steering wheel heating

This function heats the steering wheel.

▶ Activating/deactivating the function

With the vehicle ignition on, select [Air conditioning/seat] from the menu on the left side of the center screen.

[Air conditioning/seat] , then select [Seat] 2-[Heated] 3 in order, and then select the steering wheel button 4 on the screen to set the function. (When the air conditioning function is in operation, the [Air conditioning/seat] button displays the current set temperature.)

When one indicator light on the steering wheel heating control button 4 on the center screen lights up, it indicates a low heating level, and when three indicator lights light up, it indicates a high heating level.

When all three indicator lights on the steering wheel heating control button go out, it indicates that the steering wheel heating is off.

When the temperature of the steering wheel reaches the set temperature level, the steering wheel heating system automatically controls the temperature fluctuations to maintain the steering wheel temperature at the target level.

  • When the steering wheel heating function is turned on, it is set to level 3 by default.
  • When the vehicle is started, the automatic steering wheel heating function is turned on by default.
  • If the ambient temperature is higher than the heating target temperature, the heating will automatically turn off after about 100 seconds.
warning
  • There is a risk of low-temperature burns or overheating when using the steering wheel heating function.
  • Note: Low-temperature burns are burns caused by heat when the skin is exposed to temperatures of 40 to 50℃ for a long time. Be careful because you can get burned without feeling much pain or heat.

▶ Automatic setting

With the vehicle ignition on, select [Air Conditioning/Seat] -[Seat]-[Heated] in order from the menu on the left side of the center screen, and when the steering wheel image is activated, select the setting button at the bottom right to activate the function.

When set to auto, the heated seat function operates when the vehicle interior temperature is below 10°C.

■ Power steering

▶ Speed sensitive power steering

The speed sensitive power steering system is equipped with an electronic control system which alters the level of assistance to suit the vehicle speed.

Steering is made easier during parking manoeuvres (for added comfort) while the force needed to steer increases progressively as the speed rises (for enhanced safety at high speeds).

▶ When in auto stop mode

When the engine is in auto stop mode, the auto stop function is deactivated when the power steering is operated.

Note: The power steering steering feel varies depending on the selected driving mode.

▶ Operating faults

  • If the system does not operate properly due to a malfunction, steering wheel operation may become heavy or operation may not be normal depending on the vehicle speed, which may be dangerous. Have the vehicle serviced at an approved dealer as soon as possible.
  • In some malfunctions (such as a malfunction in the ignition line), the warning message or warning light on the instrument panel may not light up. In this case, the steering wheel can still be turned, but it will require a lot of force. Immediately park the vehicle safely and contact an approved dealer.
  • In the case of a serious malfunction, a steering system error message will be displayed on the instrument panel ( accompanied by a warning light and a warning sound). Immediately park the vehicle safely and contact an approved dealer.
warning

Never leave the steering wheel on full lock when the vehicle is stationary.

With the engine switched off, or if there is a system fault, it is still possible to turn the steering wheel. The force required will be greater.

▶ Features of power-assisted steering

  • Never drive with an inadequately charged battery. The steering wheel may not move normally.
  • When operating the steering wheel quickly, motor noise may occur depending on the vehicle specifications, but this is normal.
  • Depending on the vehicle specifications, if the steering wheel is operated continuously while driving at low speeds or while parked, the steering wheel operation may become heavy. This is because the system limits the function to prevent malfunction due to overload of the power steering system. When the temperature of the power steering system drops to normal, the operation of the power steering will also return to normal. Avoid operating the steering wheel at low speeds for long periods of time, which may overload the power steering system.
warning

Never turn off the engine while driving downhill or on a normal road. Doing so may cause the power steering and brakes to not work properly.
