Using information from the side and rear radar sensors installed on each side of the rear bumper (area 1), the system detects the vehicle's rear blind spots and warns the driver:

  • Blind spot warning (BSW)
  • Rear collision warning (RCW)
  • Occupant safe exit alert
  • Rear cross traffic alert (RCTA)

When the vehicle is powered on, the system initiates a self-check, during which the system's functions are not available.

Ensure that zone 1 around the radars on each side of the rear bumper are not obstructed (by dirt, mud, snow, etc.). If the radar areas are dirty or affected by weather conditions such as rain, it may impact the system's performance. If the camera or radar is limited or inoperable, related messages may appear on the instrument panel.

■ Blind spot warning (BSW)

The system alerts the driver to driving safety through the illumination/blinking of the outside mirror blind spot monitoring indicator, dashboard notifications, warning sounds, and the flashing of hazard warning lights.

When the START/STOP button is in Mode II or when the vehicle is started, the blind spot warning indicator on the dashboard lights up green, indicating that the system is functioning normally. If the blind spot warning indicator lights up red, it indicates a malfunction in the system.

  • Please keep the surfaces on both sides of the rear bumper clean.
  • This system is for driver assistance and cannot replace safe driving by the driver.
  • Do not disassemble or replace the rear side radars.

▶ Operation principle

Using information from the sensors installed on each side of the rear bumper (area 1), the function warns the driver:

  • When a vehicle is in the blind spot area A and travelling in the same direction as your vehicle;

    and/or

  • When there is a risk of collision with a vehicle that is in the B area and driving faster than you on an adjoining lane.

Due to the presence of sensors behind the bumper, it is advisable to entrust any operation on the bumper (repair, replacement, paintwork, etc.) to a qualified professional.

▶ Activation/deactivation

On the central screen, select [My apps] -[Driver Assistance]-[Active Driver Assist]-[Driving Safety Assistance] in order, then activate or deactivate the function under [Blind Spot Warning] below [Lane Change Assist]. The activation/deactivation status of all functions will maintain the previous settings.

Alternatively, swipe down from the top left of the central screen to select [Control Center], then activate or deactivate [Blind Spot Warning]. Multimedia equipment

warning

This function is an additional driving aid. This function is not under any circumstances intended to replace the due care and attention of the driver, who should at all times be in control of the vehicle.

System limitations

The blind spot warning indicator lights up or blinks, and a warning sound is emitted from the system.

The blind spot warning function may have difficulty assisting the driver in the following situations:

  • Adverse weather conditions such as rain or snow.
  • It does not operate on stationary objects.
  • It does not operate on pedestrians and bicycles.
  • Sharp turns and open spaces.

■ Rear collision warning (RCW)

The rear collision warning support function can monitor objects behind the vehicle.

When a vehicle approaching quickly from the rear is detected, the hazard warning lights illuminate to alert the rear vehicle to slow down or maintain a safe distance. If the vehicle is stationary and the gear lever is in the P, N, or D position, the system will apply the brakes if there is a risk of a rear-end collision, reducing the risk of the vehicle sliding forward after a collision and preventing a secondary collision with the vehicle in front.

The rear collision warning support function operates when the gear lever is in the P, N, or D position, and it will apply emergency brakes when a hazard is detected. The detected targets for rear approach include:

  • Vehicles
  • Small electric vehicles or motorcycles.

▶ Activation/deactivation

From the left menu on the central screen, select [My apps] -[Driver Assistance]-[Active Driver Assist]-[Collision Avoidance Assistance], and then activate or deactivate the [Rear Collision Warning] function.

Alternatively, swipe down from the top of the central screen to the left of the clock to select [Control Center], and then activate or deactivate the [Rear Collision Warning]. Multimedia equipment

warning

System limitations

This function may not operate in the following cases:

  • When a rear vehicle changes lanes at the last moment.
  • When it is too late to detect an approaching vehicle in situations such as sharp turns, inclines, or short merging roads.
  • When the relative speed of the rear vehicle exceeds approximately 72 km/h or is below approximately 10 km/h.

The rear collision warning function cannot prevent collisions. Drivers must pay attention to warnings and take appropriate actions to ensure safe driving.

■ Occupant safe exit alert

When the vehicle is stationary or moving at low speeds, the rear side radar detects approaching moving objects from the side. If there is a risk of collision when opening the door, the blind spot warning indicator on the outside mirror illuminates or blinks, and a warning sound is emitted to alert the driver of the danger of opening the door.

This function primarily detects the following targets:

  • Vehicles
  • Small electric vehicles or motorcycles
  • Bicycles
  • Pedestrians (detection performance is not guaranteed)

▶ Activation/deactivation

From the left menu on the central screen, select [My apps] -[Driver Assistance]-[Active Driver Assist]-[Collision Avoidance Assistance], and then activate or deactivate the [Safety Exit Warning].

warning

System limitations

This function may not operate effectively in the following situations:

  • Inclement weather such as rain or snow
  • When the target object is stationary or moving slowly
  • When a vehicle is approaching or departing quickly

If the vehicle has been turned off for about 3 minutes or is locked and powered off, this function will cease to operate.

■ Rear cross traffic alert (RCTA)

The rear cross traffic alert uses rear side radar to monitor approaching objects. If a collision risk is detected between the vehicle and rear vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, or pedestrians, the rear cross traffic alert alerts the driver to the danger through clear and accurate alarms. If the vehicle is reversing and the risk is high, the vehicle will perform emergency braking.

▶ Activation/deactivation

From the left menu on the central screen, select [My apps] -[Driver Assistance] --[Active Driver Assist]-[Collision Avoidance Assistance], and then activate or deactivate the [Rear Cross Traffic Alert].

Alternatively, swipe down from the top of the central screen to select [Control Center], and then activate or deactivate the [Rear Cross Traffic Alert]. Emergency call

This function operates during low-speed reversing. If a collision risk is detected, the rear cross traffic alert warns the driver with indicators (blind spot warning lights on the outside mirrors and hazard alerts on the central screen) and sound alarms (warning sounds on the central screen) to help prevent the vehicle from colliding with cross traffic when exiting a parking area.

warning

This lane change assist system (blind spot warning, rear collision warning, safety exit warning, rear cross traffic alert) is an additional driving assistance feature.

Therefore, the driver's attention and responsibility are of utmost importance in all situations, and you should not rely solely on the system while driving.

Even in vehicles equipped with these systems, the driver must always directly check for other vehicles in the side and rear and remain vigilant to respond to sudden situations while driving. Always pay attention to ensure there are no moving obstacles such as children, animals, strollers, or bicycles, as well as small, fixed obstacles like stones or poles in the vehicle's path.

warning
  • The system’s detection range operates according to a standard lane width. If driving on a narrow lane, the system may warn you when a vehicle is detected further away than the nearest lane.
  • The system’s detection range operates according to a standard lane width. If you are driving in wide traffic lanes, the system might not be able to detect a vehicle in the blind spot.
  • In the event of very bad weather conditions (heavy rain, snow, etc.), the system may be temporarily disrupted. Remain aware of driving conditions.

There is a risk of accidents.

warning

This function is an additional driving aid. This function is not under any circumstances intended to replace the due care and attention of the driver, who should at all times be in control of the vehicle.

The driver should always adapt their speed to the traffic conditions, regardless of the system indications.

The system should under no circumstances be taken to be an obstacle detector or an anti-collision system.

System servicing/repairs

  • In the event of an impact, radar alignment may be changed, and its operation will consequently be affected. Consult an approved dealer.
  • Any work in the area where the radars are located (repairs, replacements, etc.) must be carried out by a qualified professional. Only an authorised dealer is qualified to service the system.

System disturbance

Some conditions can disturb or damage the system's operation, such as:

  • complex surroundings (metal bridges, tunnels, roads with barriers at the edge, etc.);
  • poor weather conditions (snow, hail, black ice, etc.);
  • the vehicle is fitted with a towbar that is not recognised by the system.

Risk of false alarms or absence of warnings

If the system behaves abnormally, contact an authorised dealer.

warning

Limitation of the system operation

  • The radar area should be kept clean and free of any modifications in order to ensure the proper operation of the system.
  • Small objects moving close to the vehicle (motorcycles, bicycles, pedestrians, etc.) may not be recognised by the system.
  • When turning into a bend, the radars may temporarily cease to detect vehicles in adjacent lanes.
  • The function may warn you late when two other vehicles are approaching from the rear, side by side in the adjacent lanes (driving on a 3-lane road) and at a much higher speed than your vehicle.
  • The system may not provide a warning when the other vehicles are travelling at a significantly different speed.
  • If the vehicle is being overtaken by a long vehicle (e.g. heavy goods vehicle overtaking at a similar speed to the vehicle), the system may interrupt the warning before the end of the manoeuvre.
  • The vehicle is travelling on a winding road.
