The following warnings are provided to ensure that the airbag is not obstructed in any way when it is inflated and also to prevent the risk of serious injury caused by objects which may be hurled when the airbag is deployed.

The airbag is designed to complement the action of the seat belt. The airbag and seat belt are integral parts of the same protection system. It is essential to wear the seat belt at all times. If seat belts are not worn, the occupants of the vehicle are exposed to the risk of serious injury in the event of an accident. Although deploying the airbag can always cause superficial injuries, the absence of a seat belt increases the risk of this happening.

If the vehicle should overturn or suffer a rear impact, however severe, the pretensioners and airbags may not always be triggered. Impacts from underneath the vehicle, e.g. from pavements, potholes or stones, can all trigger these systems.

  • Any handling or modification of the entire airbag system (airbags, pretensioners, ECU, wiring harness, etc.) is strictly prohibited (unless performed by qualified personnel from an approved dealer).
  • To ensure the proper operation and avoid incorrect triggering of the airbag, only qualified personnel from an approved dealer may carry out work on the airbag system.
  • As a safety precaution, have the airbag system checked if your vehicle has been involved in an accident, or is stolen or broken into.
  • If lending or selling the vehicle, please inform the new user or owner of these points when you hand over the vehicle user manual.
  • When scrapping your vehicle, contact your approved dealer for disposal of the gas generator(s).
