Renault Kardian Latam
Checking the cruising speed
The cruise control is a function that helps to maintain the driving speed at a selected constant speed, known as the cruising speed.
This cruising speed can be set at any speed above 19 mph (30 km/h).
Controls
- 1.
Cruise control on/off switch.
- 2.
Switch to activate and decrease the cruising speed (SET/-).
- 3.
Switch to activate and increase the cruising speed or to recover the stored cruise speed (RES/+).
- 4.
Switch the function to standby (with cruising speed saved) (0).
- 5.
Speed limiter on/off switch.
warning
Under no circumstances does it replace the driver's responsibility to respect speed limits or to be vigilant.
The driver must keep control of the vehicle at all times.
The cruise control should not be used in heavy traffic, on twisting or slippery roads (icy, aquaplaning, gravel etc.) or during bad weather (fog, rain, side winds etc.).
Risk of accident.
Switching on
Press the switch 1.
The
warning light appears in grey.
The "Cruise Control selected" message is displayed on the instrument panel accompanied by dashes to indicate that the cruise control function is operating and waiting to store a cruising speed.
Activating cruise control
While the vehicle is moving at a constant speed above approximately 19 mph (30 km/h), press switch 2 (SET/-) or 3 (RES/+): the function is activated and the current speed is taken into account.
The cruising speed replaces the dashes. The speed limiter is confirmed when the stored limit speed and the warning light 6 appear in white.
Depending on the vehicle, if you try to activate the function at less than 19 mph (30 km/h), the "Invalid speed" message will be displayed and the function will remain inactive.
Driving
Once a cruising speed is registered and the function is activated, you can take your foot off the accelerator pedal.
warning
Note that you should keep your feet close to the pedals so that you can react in an emergency.
Adjusting the cruising speed
The cruising speed may be changed by pressing the following repeatedly:
- the switch 2 (SET/-) to reduce the speed;
- the switch 3 (RES/+) to increase the speed.
Note: press and hold one of the switches to modify the speed in successive increments.
Exceeding the cruising speed
The cruising speed may be exceeded at any time by simply pressing the accelerator pedal. When the cruising speed is exceeded, the set speed will flash on the instrument panel.
Then, release the accelerator pedal: after a few seconds, the vehicle will automatically return to its set cruising speed.
Cruising speed cannot be maintained
In the case of steep gradients, the system is unable to maintain the cruising speed. The stored speed flashes on the instrument panel.
warning
If the cruise control is no longer available after several attempts to activate it, contact an approved dealer.
tip
Cruise control with cruising speed maintained during gear shifting:
This function maintains cruise control speed before and after a gear shift, without any action required from the driver.
Putting the function on standby
The function is suspended when you press:
- Switch 4 (0);
- the brake pedal or;
- the clutch pedal for a prolonged period or in a prolonged neutral position on vehicles equipped with a manual gearbox;
- shift to neutral on vehicles equipped with automatic gearbox.
The cruising speed is stored and displayed in grey on the instrument panel.
Returning to the cruising speed
If a speed is memorised, it can be recalled, once you are sure that the road conditions are suitable (traffic, road surface, weather conditions, etc.). Press the switch 3 (RES/+) if the vehicle speed is over 19 mph (30 km/h).
When the vehicle speed is recovered, activation of the cruising speed is confirmed by the appearance of the cruising speed in white and, depending on the vehicle, the appearance of the
warning light.
Note: if the speed previously stored is much higher than the current speed, the vehicle will accelerate rapidly to reach the speed that has been set.
When the cruise control is in standby mode, pressing the switch 2 (SET/-) reactivates the cruise control function, which will use the current vehicle speed and not take into account the previously set speed.
Switching off the function
The cruise control function is suspended:
- when you press the switch 1. In this case, the speed is no longer stored;
- when you press the switch 5. In this case, the speed limiter is selected and there is no more speed stored.
The warning light 6 disappears from the instrument panel to confirm that the function is not activated.
warning
Putting the cruise control on standby or switching it off does not cause the speed to reduce rapidly: to slow down it is necessary to brake by pressing the brake pedal.
